Would you believe that I’ve never celebrated Mardi Gras. Ever?! I know. I need to re-evaluate my life. Especially after setting sights on Sapphire Events‘ festive luncheon. Bold colours, lots of beads and a lavender infused cocktails is all I need to know that I’ve been missing the boat some twenty odd years. Captured by Greer G Photography, it’s all right here.
From Sapphire Events… Mardi Gras season in New Orleans is often a very amusing, yet hectic time for locals who call the Big Easy home. For this styled shoot, Jack Kane of Sapphire Events, designed a luncheon for the day before Fat Tuesday, known as Lundi Gras.
Arnaud’s Restaurant, in the heart of the French Quarter of New Orleans, is one of the oldest and largest restaurant establishments in the city. The restaurant is comprised of several old New Orleans homes that have been purchased and added to the restaurant over it’s 100 year history. Nestled in the top floor of Arnaud’s are the stunning Bourbon Suites, overlooking the hustle and bustle of the city below. The private dining rooms are covered in custom wallpaper depicting carnival season in Istanbul, Turkey. The wallpaper mimics the festive spirit that occurs directly below the classic wrought iron balconies surrounding the room.
The wallpaper served as the largest piece of inspiration in the design of this styled shoot. The elements in the tablescape were brought in to compliment the color palette already existing in the area. Plates and glassware in hues of lavender, maroon and sky blue were amidst antique carnival glass holding stunning floral arrangements by Kim Starr Wise in hues of green and deep purple to anchor all the colors and textures in the space. Other décor elements, such as the seating trunk and the elephant napkin rings were incorporated in the design as a nod to the carnival motif that appears on the walls.
