Love is in the air this month and what's more fun than surprising your special someone with something you made with your own two hands? This DIY dip-dyed Valentine's Day mobile right here is a true labor of love. We're so obsessed that we now want to decorate every inch of our studio just like this! And check out more of our work right here! xo, The Petal Gals
February can be such a dry and desolate month so we really wanted to brighten up with some fun paint colors and it just happened to be the perfect month to bring in some hot pinks and bright reds. But regardless of the occasion, you can make this awesome installation for anything your heart desires - think fun, indy baby nursery or a wild storefront window - its up to you!
We foraged various sticks at one of our favorite local spots, Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm, and headed back to the studio for some DIY fun.
Foraged Sticks (various sizes and thicknesses)
Martha Stewart Crafts Acrylic Paint (the brighter the better, in our opinion)
Forage as many sticks + twigs as you'd like for your project (the more variety, the more beautiful your piece will turn out). Cut your sticks to your desired lengths.
Lay your paints out, so it makes it easier to dip each stick & paint sticks with your mix of colors
Let the paint dry overnight---with acrylic you should be fine with an hour, but we like to play it safe
Tie different lengths + colors of embroidery thread to each stick
Create outline (get creative) on ceiling with washi tape
Tape each string along your outline as thick or as thin as you want
This little DIY is sure to surprise your guy (or gal)!
