It’s official. Judy Pak wins wife of the year. This fall harvest surprise party she threw for her husband? It’s one of the loveliest things I’ve seen in a while. Designed by Michelle Edgemont, it’s filled to the brim with the prettiest details from an elegant paper suite to a granite hot chocolate bar, and there isn’t a single detail that has been left unthought of. See if you can spot them all in the overflowing gallery.
From Judy Pak… My husband loves all things fall so for his 40th birthday, I wanted to surprise him with a fall harvest themed party on our terrace. My vision was to highlight the bounty of fall through both the food and decor for him to enjoy in the company of his closest friends and family in the comfort of our own home.
For florals, the uber talented Michelle Edgemont created gorgeous arrangements with loose fall greens, burgundy flowers with a lot of texture in wooden vases. On the table, she chose a pretty khaki table linen with olive napkins. Amber glass plates sat upon gold chargers and down the center of the table, she created a runner made of swatches of plaid flannel, miniature pumpkins in orange, gray and gold foil, floral arrangements and votive candles. She also brought in a variety of staging props such as large pumpkins in orange and gray, plaid blankets for guests to use, tons of candles, apples, pears, pomegranates and sprigs of fall leaves and acorns.
For the invitations, the incredibly artistic Laura from Make Merry used a flowing script, gold foil and earthy paper to highlight the fall theme. The beautiful stationary really helped bring the table settings to life.
Radish created the most flavorful menu for our guests to feast on. For cocktail hour, guests savored hors d’oeuvres inspired by autumn while enjoying the setting sun that lit up the New York City skyline. The signature cocktail was “The Charleston Bog,” which highlighted bourbon and whiskey. Dinner was a hearty family style meal underneath strings of globe lights and surrounding twinkling candles.
For dessert, the amazing Ninecakes created a delectable vanilla cake with crystallized ginger layered with pomegranate buttercream. To incorporate the fall theme, the cake was adorned with little metallic acorns.
Guests were also treated to a hot chocolate bar that featured chocolate that was grounded on granite surfaces resulting in a rustic deeply flavorful hot chocolate. They were able to take it plain or add shots of flavorful house made syrups and giant marshmallows. We also added a s’mores station for a fun and unexpected treat. The sweet s’mores box featured the traditional fluffy homemade marshmallows, homemade graham crackers and Brooklyn made Mast Brothers chocolate.
Everyone did such a wonderful job in really transforming our space into an amazing fall harvest party that all the guests enjoyed and my husband will never forget.
