Confession: I've had a girl crush on Margaret Elizabeth for longer than I'll ever admit. With her fabulous jewelry collection, her incredible design sense and infectious go-getter attitude, I'm fairly certain that I'm not alone. So when she let us take a peek at her newly updated San Fransisco pad, I knew it was going to be good, but I didn't realize it'd be absolutely beyond. So while I sit here and swoon, you should feel free to spend some time in the gallery. Our dear Josh Gruetzmacher was there to capture it all, and it's all really, really good.
From Margaret... My husband and I have lived in our San Francisco apartment for the last three years. We fell in love with its high ceilings, abundant natural light, and classic San Franciscan architecture. We've had so much fun designing the space and making it our home!
The style of apartment is pretty eclectic- a mix of traditional and modern, with many pieces coming from adventures around San Francisco and abroad. We’ve gotten the majority of our furnishings from antique shops, the Alemeda Flea Market, and a few lucky finds on craigslist (our marble top side tables in our living room, for instance).
As a jewelry designer, my days are spent playing with color and texture, and that bleeds in to the design of our home. If I had it my way, I would redecorate on a monthly basis! Instead, I’m always reinventing little corners of the apartment by creating vignettes with different knick knacks.
My favorite pieces in our house are the ones that have a story- a set of crystal glasses from my grandmother, photos from our wedding, and pieces we’ve collected while traveling. It's fun to walk into a room and instantly be reminded of a past trip or adventure. The carpet in our bedroom is from a recent trip to Morocco. I love that every time I look at it, I'm reminded of the time we spent there.
