Have you ever indulged in an elderflower cocktail? Because I fully and wholeheartedly believe that it will change your life. It’s subtle, it’s fresh, and you simply feel like a lady while sipping it. I’ve had it sprinkled throughout a number of different libations, but it never really occurred to me to whip one up for myself at home. That is, until now, thanks to Monica and her dangerously fabulous ideas.
From Monica… This is by far my favorite cocktail ever. I first had it at my sister’s wedding and after I had it once, I knew I had to recreate it at home for dinner parties and get togethers. It has the perfect hint of the floral notes from the elderflower and the lime juice perfectly balances the sweetness from the sugar. You can also swap out the gin for vodka depending on your preference. This one is very dangerous! Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
- 1 part freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1 part St Germain liquor
- 1 part gin
- 1/2 part simple syrup
- Add all the ingredients to a shaker filled with ice.
- Shake vigorously.
- Pour into a champagne coupe.
- NOTE: To make the simple syrup, pour 1 cup granulated sugar and 1 cup water into a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a light simmer and stir until the sugar dissolves. This should take about 2 to 3 minutes. Turn off the heat and chill before putting it into the cocktail mixture.
