While over-the-top styled events are always appreciated for their inspirational qualities, sometimes it’s nice to sit back and focus on real-live ones that are completely and totally feasible. Events like this simple yet elegant dinner party that Molly Pollet threw for her graduate boyfriend (congrats graduate boyfriend!) With just a few key elements (like calligraphy place cards – swoon), this celebration is effortless perfection. Captured by Bryce Covey, there’s lots more in the gallery.
From Molly…Planning this dinner party was extra special for me. My boyfriend graduated from his master’s program and the dinner was planned for our two families to get together to celebrate. I got to plan everything with my favorite creative partner – my mom. She’s incredibly talented, and has a beautiful home to work with. We wanted to keep the décor simple and natural so that the focus stayed on the food, drinks and, most importantly, the company.
Being May, we kept everything fresh for the summer with natural linens and white florals. We started with a cheese platter, and served classic old fashioneds – the graduate’s favorite cocktail – and a gin & lillet cocktail for the ladies. For dinner, we grilled steaks and asparagus, and made a delicious panzanella salad. We also got to all share 2 bottles of Château Margaux that my boyfriend’s parents brought home from France over 10 years ago.
We made lemon bars, chocolate chip bars, and brownies for dessert that we cut into small squares and passed around the table after everyone was done eating dinner. This way, everyone can stay around the table and continue talking. The whole night was so perfect and special. My incredibly talented friend, Bryce Covey, was so generous to come over and capture the details.
