Palm Springs has long been on my must-visit list. The incredible mid-century modern architecture paired with the desert heat has always been appealing to this warm-weather design-loving lady. So when Tammy Horton sent along her photos from a recent trip to this Californian locale, it was all I could do to not totally bombard her with questions. Lucky for me, she was sweet enough to let me pick her brain on where to eat, where to stay, and what exactly it is I should be doing if (when) I do find myself making my way there. Plus! There’s so much cuteness of her friends Mike and Joseph + more right here in the gallery.
WHERE TO STAY.
The Ace Hotel, it’s hip, earth friendly, has a fab spa, is walking distance to downtown, and you can bring your dog!
WHERE TO PLAY.
If you’re looking for fun entertainment, head to Toucans Tiki Lounge. You’ll find strong island drinks and the longest running drag revue in the desert here. A must see!
WHAT TO WEAR.
To get the quintessential Palm Springs look, stop into Trina Turk. There you will find desert attire laden with retro prints and vibrant colors.
WHAT TO DRINK.
Melvyn’s Restaurant has been around for over 35 years and was one of Frank Sinatra’s favorite spots. If you’re going to order a martini, do it here.
WHAT TO EAT (LATE NIGHT).
King’s Highway is never a disappointment. It’s a diner attached to the Ace Hotel serving local and fresh eats. It’s open until 3 am on the weekends.
WHERE TO BREAKFAST.
Hands down go to Cheeky’s. You may have to wait a bit to get seated, but the bloody mary’s are worth the wait AND they have a bacon flight!
WHERE TO SHOP.
Do not miss the shopping! Both Downtown and the Uptown Design District offer a wide selection of mid-century modern shops, art galleries, antique shops and fashion boutiques.
WHERE TO LOUNGE.
For sure, the Ace Hotel! If you’re not a hotel guest that’s okay, you can become a Swim Club member for a small fee and enjoy the benefits of the pool and poolside events. Plus, the swim club is open until 2 am!
WHERE TO DINE.
If you want a nice dinner, head to Mister Parker’s at the Parker Hotel. It’s a dark and sexy atmosphere with delicious bistro food!
