Having been submerged in the design & entertaining industry for some time now, I’m fairly confident with my abilities to throw together a pretty party. But Mayhar Design? Well, they have certainly shown up any I’ve hosted in my lifetime. And today we get the opportunity to absorb all of their event throwing knowledge in this behind the scenes look at their floral and event design workshop. Captured by Christine Sargologos, the girls at Mayhar are sharing some awesome tips and ideas for a fete of our very own. Oh and lots more from this incredible workshop right here in the gallery.
From Mayhar Design… We feel beyond blessed to work in the wedding industry, and to have an opportunity to collaborate with so many gifted wedding professionals. “Styled; A Design Workshop Series,” was created in partnership with Kim Spradlin of Bella Bridesmaid, in hopes of offering a fun and informative workshop to local clientele and friends who might want to learn a bit more about various aspects of entertaining. We quickly added a group of talented ladies to the team and started planning. A huge thank you to our talented presenters: Bella Bridesmaid, Christine Sargologos Photography, Fresh Urban Flowers, 2tarts and Artfully Composed.
We wanted our first workshop, entitled “Designing Your Perfect Bridal Shower/Party,” to focus on tips and tricks for creating, designing and hosting events at your own home. Our goal was to offer design and style guidelines that we use in our own business, along with information and advice from local wedding experts in various fields!
The entire workshop was based around the color palette of mustard and mint. We chose mint for its versatility and current popularity and hoped to pair it with a slightly unexpected twist, which we decided was a deep and rich mustardy ochre color. We love the freshness of the two tones and felt that is was perfect for a fun and slightly modern ladies luncheon. We also loved that we could weave the colors into the various flavors and design elements.
For the overall design, we wanted to introduce a wide variety of texture, layer, dimension, depth and hue, all with a slightly modern feel. We also added a few of our all-time favorite punch pieces: pops of metallic accents, fresh florals to help breathe life and energy into the design and fun fruit and candy accents for and extra splash of color and dimension.
The lovely ladies of 2Tarts Bakery designed and created charming sweet treats for our dessert bar and guests, infusing each of their beauties with the perfect amount of themed mint, mustard and curry flavored sweetness. Additionally, they left each guest with some quick and easy decor ideas to take home and start baking with.
Brooke Harris of Fresh Urban Flowers, came on board as our floral expert, providing the beautiful florals for our event, and presenting helpful guidelines for building large statement arrangements as well as simple collections of flowers in an assortment of small vases. The gifted Shannon Pfeifer of Artfully Composed helped create our paper goods, with her amazingly elegant calligraphy. And, the super talented Christine Sargologos helped to capture images of the day, as well as provide quick photography tips.
We very much look forward to continuing this series throughout the San Antonio community, and are thrilled to share some images taken by Christine from our first workshop!
