Please excuse me while I pick my jaw up off of the floor because this 30th birthday dinner party is completely beyond. Designed by Amanda O’Shannessy and photographed by the birthday girl herself, Melanie Duerkopp, there isn’t a single thing I’d change. And if I’m being honest, it’s the first time I’ve ever legitimately looked forward to the idea of a 30th birthday. A casual picnic, fresh food and views for miles? I’m in. See the whole thing in all of it’s lovely glory right here.

From Melanie… I wanted to share my birthday with friends and family and what better way to spend the day than up north shucking oysters with great company, food and wine. I love going up to Point Reyes as it’s such an easy escape from San Francisco. The drive up the coast is amazing – it really is a whole different world.

I originally asked Amanda to create a mood board to help give me a direction for the tablescape. Inspired by the blue in the Hog Island Oyster Co logo, this element was sprinkled throughout. All of the glassware and dinnerware was purchased at Ikea, Westelm, and CB2.

The only direction I gave Natalie for the flowers were the colours I was after. When I picked up the flowers from her the night before, I had tears of joy. Natalie’s work is amazing and it became the perfect addition to an incredible evening.
