Our resident DIYer, Jess, never fails to impress me with her ridiculously easy, super crafty, why-didn’t-I-think-of-that projects. I swear to you that girl has glitter & glue seeping out of her pores. And these coasters – photographed by White Loft Studio – rank amongst one of my favorite projects of hers to date. Bundled as hostess gifts or kept entirely for yourself, these babies are what coaster dreams are made of. And with provided templates, easy is the word of the day. Check out the how-to:

step-1 Clean your tiles and make sure there aren’t any stickers.

step-2Paint your tiles a solid gold. Let dry 1 hour.

step-3Download the bowtie template & print it out on the Avery paper (making sure the ink ends up on the sticker side).

step-4Cut out the template along the dotted lines. Remove the backing of the sticker paper and lay it evenly over the tile, again making sure it is centered.

step-5Use your exacto knife to cut out the sticker paper along the outline of the bowtie & pattern. Whatever sticker paper you remove will be painted, whatever you leave will be unpainted.

step-6 Paint the bowtie with Navy paint.  Wait 5 minutes, and then peel the contact paper away. Don’t wait too long to peel, or some of the paint will come off along with your contact paper. Let dry for 1 hour.

step-7Paint a layer of the Clear Gloss over the whole tile. Let dry 1 hour.

step-8Place your tiles on a baking sheet. Put in the oven and turn the oven on to 350 degrees, and bake for about 30 minutes. Turn off the oven and let the tiles cool inside the oven. Your paint is set, and the tiles are waterproof!

step-9Turn the tiles over and place four felt pads to the bottom of each. Your coasters are ready to party!

step-2Create a pattern on your tile, either with masking tape to make stripes, or with circle shape stickers to make dots.

step-3Paint your tile a solid navy. Wait 5 minutes, and then peel the masking tape or stickers away. Don’t wait too long to peel, or some of the paint will come off along with your tape or stickers. Let dry for 1 hour.

step-4You can leave your tiles navy & white, or you can paint in your dots or stripes with gold. If you do another coat of paint, be sure to let it dry for another hour.

step-5Paint a layer of the Clear Gloss over the whole tile.  Let dry 1 hour.
