I love a good splash of color just as much as the next gal, trust me. Peaches, pinks, seafoam blues… all right up my alley. But time and again, I fall head over heels for the all-white or neutral palette. It makes way for a statement, whether a be the venue or a bride’s stunning dress. Prettied up by Zest It Up, this colorless shoot is all the proof I need that white on white simply stuns. Head over to the gallery from Looking Glass Photography Studio for so much more.

From Zest It Up… This luminous and airy White on White inspiration shoot brings two of the most important components of beauty to the foreground: texture and form. When Leana, of Looking Glass Photography, asked us to turn her beautiful studio into a playful wonderland of lovely wedding ideas with a white and cream color scheme, we were instantly excited and transfixed by the the bright white walls and the natural light that flooded in through the windows. Blurring the lines between romantic and minimalistic, we worked with whites and muted metallics while paying close attention to the details that layered together for the overall unique feel of this bridal shoot. With keen eye, Leana captured all these details beautifully, allowing each image to gain a sense of wistfulness from the stark white walls and joy from the playfulness of the light.

When designing the tablescape, Sam and I used the muted tones of antique items such as ceiling tiles and crystal knobs in refreshingly new ways. A deeply pintucked bench upholstered in the softest beige linen is set off beautifully by chairs woven richly with a similar hued drapery, giving the setting a regal and demure effect. The Queen’s Anne’s legged dining table gains even more stature with the metallic ceiling tiles substituting in for traditional linens. The texture plays nicely with the lush florals from Clover and Branch. Arrangements made disciplined in color, but loose in form. Shades of green intermixed with stark white play-up the gentle curves of dusty miller, the structure of lilies, and the gentle nodding of white orchids. Vibrant and fresh, the arrangements bring vitality and depth to the muted color scheme. A similar artful skill was carried over to the food, as Catering by Crave plated beautiful roulades that were bright in flavor and clean in presentation as they focused on lovely bright greens and whites.

Bringing even more whimsical elegance to the tablescape, our silver wire wrapped antique crystal knobs held the gorgeous calligraphy and gold foiled placecards created by Rosey Calligraphy. Each placecard and menu was artfully designed to enhance the soft details of the overall design. Rosey Calligraphy took it a step further by designing bold geometric banners in muted metallics to compliment our hand wrapped lights with cream wool and ostrich feathers that cascaded from the mantle. A large cream and gold mirror sits atop the mantle, reflecting the quiet beauty of varying shapes of milk glass and mercury glass intermixed divinely with single blooms and ostrich feathers. The result was a touch of the fanciful for the lounge, as our bride’s playfully shared gorgeous cupcakes from Sea Breeze Cupcakes. Who wouldn’t debate biting into one of these delectable creations of beauty and sugar? Even choosing a single cupcake was difficult, as each was individually worked in varying shades of cream and intricately decorated with white chocolate script and feathers or sugar paste poppies and hydrangeas.

Our brides were dressed in dreamy gowns from A Heart’s Desire Bridal, a beautiful shop located in downtown San Luis Obispo. Each dress was exquisite with accents of Swarovski crystals, feathers, and lace detailing. Courtney, of Courtney Rossi Artistry, highlighted the drama of the dresses with the pale palate of the shoot by keeping the makeup defined but neutral. Each model’s natural beauty was expertly highlighted and took center stage. Perfectly coiffed, Courtney’s work allowed for a versatility of jeweled embellishments from A Heart’s Desire Bridal. Headbands, combs and barrettes created so much variety that they are sure to inspire ideas for every bride.

Again focusing on texture in the absence of color, we dressed the deeply ruffled fondant cake by La De Da Bake Shop with extra large sequins and adorned it with a handmade crown of mesh and rhinestones. Similar to the bridal gowns, the lush texture of the cake was highlighted by the touches of sparkle and quiet details. Intermixing Clover and Branch arrangements with a collection of unique pieces of mercury glass and milk glass, the texture and architectural detailing on the cake table and sweetheart table were accented dramatically with a topsy turvy centerpiece below the tables. Every nook and cranny was chock full of ideas! We simply loved this shoot. We want to say a huge thank you to all the vendors and the models for such a charming day! Besides, who could resist a photoshoot with a bunch of local female vendors and a glass of mimosa? Simply lovely.
