They say rain on your wedding day is good luck, and though I’m not sure if that’s true or not, it sure does make for a romantic day. Whether your ceremony gets pushed inside amongst the candles, or the sky opens up just in the knick of time, like this lucky couple experienced, it makes for the most intimate ambiance. And amazing images, like these from Marcella Treybig Photography. Good luck or not, I’ve never met a rainy day soiree I didn’t love. And this gallery is living proof of why.
From the photographer … As I was editing Kristin & Tim’s wedding photos I thought to myself “I love teachers so much!” Kristin is a school teacher and has the most positive glowing personality. There were dark clouds on the afternoon of her wedding day, with a very sudden heavy shower 30 minutes before the scheduled outdoor wedding ceremony. She kept calm and hoped for it to be over soon, I reminded her it’s good luck and she could end up with rainbows in your wedding photos! The rain stopped and the sun came out with clear blue skies just in time for the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club to dry the seats for the ceremony. We even got a few rainbows in the groom photos.
From the bride … My husband and I first crossed paths in our small, yet cozy, freshman year dormitory at James Madison University. We became close friends over the years until one snowy night when Tim reached for my hand, everything seemed to change. Our story of college sweethearts began on this wintry day.
Years later, Tim proposed in St. Michael’s, Maryland overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. While sitting on Adirondack chairs admiring the picturesque backdrop, we knew that the serenity and beauty of Maryland’s legendary bay was a detail that we wanted on our wedding day!
The Chesapeake Bay Beach Club offered us the perfect view of the Chesapeake waters and the exquisite bridge, and from the moment we visited the venue, our wedding planning began. My husband and I wanted to celebrate our day under the lights of the Bay Bridge, the sounds of the water, and the homey touches of white rocking chairs and gorgeous hydrangea bushes. We wanted hints of simple, nautical décor with pops of color to compliment the natural backdrop of the bay. With that our palette was created: navy, white, and fuchsia. Our invitations from Weddings & Wellies helped set the tone of this vision. The pristine, white paper was filled with a whimsical, navy font that danced across the invitation. The colors were enhanced with slight touches of fuchsia embossed in the background with a sketch of the Bay Bridge adorning the bottom. A pink crab was featured on the back to encompass the Maryland imagery. This entire theme was translated into all the paper goods of our wedding to tie everything together.
Tim and I strongly hoped to include personal touches throughout the entirety of the wedding so even our closest friends and family might learn something about us and share in our love story. From our Dogfish Beer Pairing station (Tim’s favorite summer ale!) to our cupcake doggie bags of our bulldog, Romeo, our guests felt our personalities shine through as they enjoyed the celebration. Our James Madison University table names brought back memories for our alumni and we were pleasantly surprised when our college mascot arrived, compliments of a very special bridesmaid! It was so fun to see so many people reuniting from “the good ole days” and Tim and I were thrilled that our wedding brought everyone back together for a night filled with reminiscing and laughter! Our wedding photographer, Marcella Treybig, captured our emotions perfectly and her beautiful photographs of our guest’s big smiles and roaring laughter truly exemplified the ambience and mood of our special day from start to finish.
