Southern Georgia Alcyone Plantation Wedding from Jamie Borland Photography

When a wedding day includes chandeliers hanging from moss-covered trees, DIY details and a breathtaking Lazaro gown, I call it perfection.  And perfection is exactly what we have with this beautiful day captured by Jamie Borland Photography.  An Alcyone Plantation fête that was completely crafted by the gorgeous bride, her dapper groom and uber-devoted family and friends.  The result?  One breathtaking beautiful Southern meets vintage-inspired moment after another, including fried chicken and mac ‘n’ cheese.  My favorite.  See it all here.

From the Bride… Simple, southern, and vintage describe the inspiration behind our wedding. I always envisioned getting married under a big oak tree draped with Spanish moss. I wanted natural beauty, Southern charm, and chic décor without breaking the bank. And the groom? Anyone who knows him knows he’s as laid back as they come. He had only two small requests: no tux and good food!

DIY was the theme, even down to the planning and my own hair and makeup. My sweet and talented mother spent countless hours crafting wedding signs, painting books for the centerpieces, and scouring countless online tutorials on how to make DIY mercury glass votive holders. It was important for us to have personal touches sprinkled throughout the wedding that had meaning to us. Covering the table with pictures of family wedding photos was an afghan my great grandmother knitted that will be passed down to me. My veil was my something borrowed. One of my bridesmaids was pregnant and her baby’s due date was too close to the wedding to attend. My photographer captured the moment I was holding her veil and thinking of her before I put it on (love!). Justin didn’t want traditional “boring” wedding food. On the menu: fried chicken, biscuits, green beans, and mac n’ cheese. The small vintage bottles on the tables were my mother’s personal collection. The wedding favors were potted herb plants grown in my father’s garden and a family favorite homemade datil pepper sauce.

The groom’s parents were also incredibly helpful with projects and hosted a perfectly casual and intimate rehearsal dinner at their home. Early in the planning I felt like a burden asking for help, but my advice to future brides is to allow friends and family to help, they actually get a lot of joy out of it!

South Georgia Wedding from Caroline Fontenot Photography

You know what I love? When I can take one peek, just one, into gallery of images and get an immediate sense for what the couple in the middle of it all is all about. Where I immediately feel I have all I need to know to call these two up and meet them for a coffee (or maybe over their favorite whiskey) without hesitation. It’s precisely what happened when I snuck a peek at this wedding from Caroline Fontenot, where every image tells a story of two cuties as they begin the next chapter of their love story. And you can get to know them too, right here.

From the Bride… I wanted to incorporate navy in a huge way bc a) our alma maters colors – Georgia Southern and it seemed appropriate for a coastal winter wedding. I wanted an easy going but formal feel. I also wanted to incorporate our southern roots and Travis’s life in South Georgia. Everything from the band to the beer to the food represented everything we hold near and dear to our hearts and lives.

Band – Whiskey Gentry. I was indifferent about the music but Travis insisted on a band so I gave full control over to him. We had seen them a few times in Atlanta but had never considered the fact they could play our wedding. Travis contacted Lauren Morrow, the lead singer, and they were shockingly available. I’m so glad we gt them to play because they have turned out to be great friends and I have a strong feeling they are going to get pretty big here soon. They played everything from originals to covers, all with a bluegrass feel which went along with the theme of the wedding perfectly.

South Georgia Wedding from Elizabeth Davis Photography

Get ready for some seriously pretty inspiration because this wedding is full of the most amazing details. My favorite? The gorgeous wrought iron pergola altar decorated with tons and tons of mini vases filled with pink flowers hanging from ribbon. It makes for the prettiest backdrop to say I do. Elizabeth Davis Photography snapped up all the goodness and you can click here for even more!

From Elizabeth Davis Photography… Michael & Jennifer’s deep south wedding on an elegant, sweeping southern Georgia plantation, Pebble Hill, complete with brilliant live bluegrass band and horse and buggy rides. Groomsmen wore khaki suits with black ties, bridesmaids wore black dresses with bright pink and green bouquets. All of the flowers included miniature succulents. Guest were served specialty cocktails garnished with orange slices as they arrived on the green for the ceremony. The altar was a wrought iron pergola on which glass vases full of pink and white flowers were suspended by ribbon. Centerpieces were tall hurricanes filled with bamboo shoots and pink buds. Tablecloths were white linen draped with burlap.
