This Locus Grove wedding by Kala Minko Photography is such a great example of an understated yet lovely celebration. I love hydrangeas. They are such gorgeous, voluptuous, quintessential summer florals. Throughout this budget beauty they are used in simple and romantic ways. Paired with light and airy baby’s breath and queen Anne’s lace the look is soft and sweet. And the best part? All these organically modern details can easily be recreated without breaking the bank! From the Bride… Matt and I have known each other since middle school, but we didn’t start dating until graduation day. We continued to date throughout college and he finally proposed right before I was to start pharmacy school. When Matt proposed I knew instantly that we would be having a budget wedding. With me being in school, I just couldn’t imagine spending a fortune on a wedding. I had no clue how hard it would be to do a budget wedding, but the details came together nicely. I used my grandfathers vintage pharmacy bottles, baked the wedding favors and packaged them, made the cake stand and cupcake stands, and even cut about 100 hydrangeas from my neighbor’s yard. I searched for a dress that could be made to fit my length (since that is the most expensive alteration), a florist that designs out of her home, and a fabulous photographer that I went to high school with. One of my favorite things about the wedding was including my twin brother and little sister that passed several years ago. My mom set up a table with hydrangeas and their pictures in an engraved frame. I knew they were there for our special day!
