Check out SMP-recommended site “Regina B.”  Her items are a bit pricey, but I agree with your thinking of spending a little more to get things you really adore (and would wear again).  I ordered earrings from her, but she has a ton of neckaces, bracelets, and headpieces as well.  I'm now thinking of getting one of her bracelets!
