hi, i was wondering if anyone has actually used or seen parasols used at a ceremony. i think they are a great idea, and as i am getting married in august in a garden i thought they could help my guests not get too overheated by the sun. my worry is that if people have parasols that no one will be able to see around them. would we request that they come down as we start? the ceremony will take place around 5pm, so it is later in the day when the sun won't be as intense, but i thought they could be a nice element for the guests. anyone have any thoughts on this or another idea to help shade the guests?
thanks!

Tracy,
One of the weddings that I photographed actually used them in the wedding. I loved it. It was a great touch. They had them sitting near the chairs with a little sign on the end chair. I have a few pictures on my website if you want to take a look. there is also a picture of the sign. It was a beach wedding in the middle of the afternoon and their guests did use them. It was a gorgeous wedding at the Bacara Resort in Santa Barbara. Let me know if you have any questions!

could you tell me if the guests felt the parasols blocked their views? i did look on your site, your photos are gorgeous, but i didn't see an actual photo showing the guests seated with the parasols up.

I don't know. I don't think everyone used them. It was sort of here or there. If I am remembering right, here was not one for every guest. I'll take a look and see if I have any photos with parasols up. It would make for a great photo to have them up when you first come down the isle. Thanks for the complement on my work! I am so lucky to do something on a daily basis that I love!

I was browsing Leigh Miller's website and saw pics of a wedding where the guests had these bright purple parasols, it looked beautiful!

Also, you could put up big white garden umbrellas to provide shade for everyone. They'll be higher and still look pretty. I have a pic so if you would like to see what that looks like, let me know.
