Hey there!

The location of my reception is an old mansion on Long Island. The room is kind of dark because it has a lot of dark cherry wood. The ceilings are not very tall (not low but not super high)

Here's my dilemma-

The tables are oblong, not round. And the room is more long and skinny rather than round. I promise it is really pretty, just not as I describe it.

Any ideas on centerpieces? So many pictures are either round tables or very long rectangular ones. I would love the idea of having multiple arrangements on the table but I just don't know if something like that is in the budget.

Thoughts?? Ideas??

Happy wedding planning!

I am a florist in Austin and I think doing multiple vases in a composite style would work really well. You can keep costs low by going with a more modern feeling and using tulips or mini callas leaning out of the vases and connect each vase with winding loops of curly willow or long grasses. You don't have to fill every vase to capacity to make the table look beautiful. Another option could be to have some taller vases filled with floating candles and some lower bud vases filled with flowers in two longer rows to extend the more rectangular shape of the tables. You could also use a plot of wheat grass with some flowers mixed in on some of the tables to keep the costs down. I could go on and on because there are a lot of options, but feel comfortable knowing that a grouping of vases can work on any shape table. I hope this helps you some. If you haven't gone to meet with a florist in your area, take some time to look around. I'm sure there are a few that can work within your bugdet and help you develop a beautiful tablescape. If you are going DIY take some time to look at all the websites linked to style me pretty. Go out and get some vases, then play around with some flowers and containers until you find a look you love!

Have fun planning!

Hello,

Try any particular theme to decorate your room, well one of my friend also got married in a place as you described, but her decorator was very innovative he tried beach theme inside the room, whole place was decorated with bubbles and sand glass and shells and special attention was giving to beach wedding table decoration, all tables have a beautiful seashell centerpiece teamed with floarting candles. It really look awesome.

What about Designing something custom with your spouse-to-be. maybe because I am an artist i lean towards the DIY ethic. but why hire a designer who doesn't know you for something so personal?  thats just me..

I visualize a lot of plush fabric draped across the table with yellow rose petals everywhere and a sculpture made by a freind.

What is your wedding theme and color scheme?  By knowing that, you can easily narrow down some options.

I'm visualizing some willow branches placing on the table in an artistic way, forming an interesting structure, and putting a few fake birds on the branches.  And right beside the branches decoration, I would have a couple of small white simple pots with moss green along with some short stem flowers and herbs.

But again… it really depends on your preferred style.  Do you want to have a rustic chic wedding? a formal classy wedding? What sort of vibe do you want to convey to your guests?
