I'm having a bit of a dilemma with myself regarding my invitations.  I had made the decision a few weeks ago to make my own.  I've done this before for friends and everything has turned out beautifully.  I am looking to cut costs in certain areas, and I am confident that I can design and make a beautiful, professional-looking invitation.  Here is my crisis: 

I love the look and feel of either raised printing or letterpress, and I am starting to second guess myself about printing my own invitations.  Will a flat print set the right tone?  Will people even notice? (My extremely detail-oriented best friend already said something to me about it, not even knowing my intentions to create my own invite) 

Should I stick with my original choice of designing my own or try to go through a vendor and pay the higher cost for the more “formal” printing style? Does anyone know if I can still design my own invite and simply take them somewhere for printing in a raised font or letterpress?

I think it's a good idea to take a step back and look at what is important to you.  What kind of budget are you willing to spend on invitations? Is meeting that budget more important or making sure the invitations have all been luxuriously letterpressed weighed heavier to you?
