Hello all,
Just need some advice. I'm quite creative and want to make my own invites. I'm sure i have seen on this site and others that there are places you can download fonts and I have found a couple of sites but wondered if you guys could recommend anywhere that is good?
Most importantly what about the images/borders/designs/patterns featured in so many invites these days? The script-like borders and back ground patterns and rose embellishments…. does anyone know what I mean/where to get them?!
Help!!!!???

I just downloaded some great free fonts at http://www.dafont.com. For the borders and backgrounds you are looking for try http://www.istockphoto.com, they have some really cool ones!

You could also try Dover CDs/books. You can find them on Amazon and they have all sorts of images- I know many of the Martha Stewart graphics come from these collections.

You can also download tons of borders and fonts and doo-dads from scrapbooking websites. Many are free, most cost just a little bit. Email eddye@stylemepretty.com if you still need help.

Have you seen some of the diy invites from the Martha Stewart mags? I've seen one which was in their recent special which was super nice, it looked like it was typed on a typewriter and the edge was sewn on with a sewing machine, cutesy but nice.
Another idea is to get a stamp made up, you can get them custom made at stampworxx, I think that is what it is called and use the stamp as the background for the invites, you can use it in other elements of decoration to create a theme.
For return addressing the envelopes I had a calligraphy stamp made up from emililies on etsy. I've also seen embossing stamps on finestationary.com

I just went to this site to download flourishes to make my own save the dates….www.weddingclipart.com
You can sign up for a free 7 day trial which gives you two free downloads. You can browse the site and see the images with watermarks before you sign up. Otherwise i think they are having a 15% off subscription for one year which comes to about $33. They had a lot of the classic/contemporary designs I was looking for, so I may sign up for the full trial later but i'm trying to work with the two I downloaded. I also found a great free program called Gimp, which is apparently exactly like Adobe Photoshop. It took some time to learn but if you google for tutorials on things you are trying to do (like how do i change the color?) you can find the answer.

I found some really cute borders and delicate scripty designs on http://www.csaimages.com for only $7.00. Those are under the elements section. They have other cool art too.
