Personal baking mixes as wedding favors

Hi ladies! I know there are a lot of creative juices flowing out there, so I wanted to get your thoughts and advice on putting together my wedding favors! I love to bake and all of my loved ones know that I'll never visit or go to a meeting empty handed! Plus, my fiance loves eating my baked goods and typically asks me to pass the baked goods on to save his weight!

I thought it'd be fitting to put together little mini baking mixes in a jar, with a little spatula or mixer, and tie a note of thanks with something like “bake up some love” or “mix up some love” and the recipe.

Have any of you had any experiences with this? Do you know a website that sells lots of good jars?

Yay for wedding planning!

I would look for canning jars, also knows as ball jars. I know that you can get them at the dollar store, the grocery store and they are relatively inexpensive. I am not sure what size you need so i can't really help you more than that.

Check out http://www.notmartha.org for directions about baking pies in jars.

There is a link in the post about baking cakes in a jar as well.

Good luck!  This is a great idea!

Have you looked into personalized labels? I've seen alot of people write cute notes & sayings on little labels. You could use a different color or design for each mix and say something cute or use them as ingredient labels!Check out the labels at PlumDrama.com

Instead of personalized stick-on lables, I would tie some string (color coordinated) around the top of the jar and include a small paper label attached to the string. Handwrite a special note or the preparation instructions.

OMG – What a great idea! It's so simple and smart! And your little note of thanks is so sweet too! I think it's so smart that you're thinking aboout packaging your favors really nicely. This is something I find a lot of brides don't put a lot of time into. But, personally, I think it's the most important part! It can make a really simple favor, absolutely remarkable! And, from the sounds of it, your favor is going to blow the socks off your guests!

Pine Meadows sells a lot of great jars – their website is Pinemeadows.net.
