I'm getting married in Bali, Indonesia in February next year.  (My fiance and I are international development/humanitarian aid workers across the country.)  The villa that we've picked is gorgeous (take a look: http://www.khayanganestate.com) and is filled with beautiful shades of tropical green against a blue blue tropical island sky and the Indian Ocean.  The issue now is… what colors do I pick to go with it?

I've waivered between being inspired by a green cymbidium orchid (but think that green as a color will make for too much green since the property is covered in green) or choosing something closer to navy/peacock blue with peachy/pinky accents, but that too might be too close to what the property already brings.  Another option is to go with a gunmetal lavender (ala the Amsale bridesmaid gowns in tissue taffeta from 2008).  The men are most likely going to wear light grey suits with white shirts. Any thoughts on BM dress colors/styles, flower inspirations (that can be sourced in a tropical country), and whether or not the boys should wear ties?

I love this site!  It's full of wonderful inspirations and insightful posts!

Your wedding location is BEAUTIFUL!  So congratulations, first of all.  I am so happy for you!  I've been helping my sister-in-law plan her wedding, so I have been gathering many ideas for her and having fun sharing them with others.

With so much green at the location, I think it would be beautiful to bring a burst of color, especially since Bali is such a tropical place.  I love your idea of lavendar or even pink or orange to pop against the green/natural backdrop.  Here is a wedding that I shared with my sister-in-law because I love how the green and lavendar went so nicely together.

I also love the use of parasols, and I think it would be a lovely addition to your wedding in Bali.  I came upon this website that sells parasols and fans that come in a variety of gorgeous colors.

Some flowers that might work nicely for your wedding would include local flowers like plumeria, gardenia (I love the smell, and they might look beautiful in your hair), birds of paradise, jasmine (also smell great), and orchids.

Another color you might want to consider is tangerine.  My sister-in-law selected it as an accent color for her wedding, and I'm starting to see many things in that shade.

If I come across other inspirations, I'll come back and share them with you!
