Destination Engagement Session in Bordeaux, France

Our perfect day spent traveling would be free from an itinerary and full of unplanned moments, which is why we’re obsessed with this romantic engagement session in the southwest of France! Bubblerock Photography captured this traveling New Zealand couple as they enjoyed a lazy morning in and leisurely explored the fog-swept city, and you can find all the dreamy photos in the full gallery right here!

From Bubblerock PhotographyWhen you think engagement session, you often think outdoors, by the beach, on a mountain but not often do you see anything cozy and inside, with a nice breakfast to get started. But this is what we wanted to do with Eddy and Kev because they wanted something more intimate, cozy, and them: a quiet morning in before exploring a new city in the afternoon.

Originally from New Zealand, both were traveling through France when we set the date for the engagement session in Bordeaux. The weather wasn’t very cooperative but it made for more incredible and unique pictures for them.

Lovers of good food, good books and good architecture, they found everything they wanted in this gorgeous city of the South West of France, and more.

Romantic Summer Chateau Wedding

French chateaus are a pot of gold, a treasure chest of possibilities for weddings. Already possessing an insane amount of elegance and romance, they transform a celebration into something extra special, and this multi-cultural summer soiree is a perfect example. Weday’s planned the beautiful bash and Groovy Baby got it all on camera; check out this gallery by French Grey Photography and dream away.

From Weday’s… A lovely half French, half Hong Kong wedding, which took place in a Bordeaux chateau. Everything took place at the chateau, from the preparation of the couple in the suites of this 12th century castle (Chateau de la Ligne in Lignan de Bordeaux) to the beautiful evening itself, including a romantic civil ceremony in the park overlooking the vineyards and a cocktail accompanied by live jazz musicians.

Heather and Adrien’s vows:

“On this day, Adrien, I take you to be my best friend. My wonderful partner, and my one true love. I promise you to encourage you, to support you and to stand by your side whenever you need me. And to inspire you and to love you truly, through good times and bad times. I will forever be there to laugh with you, to lift you up when you are down and to grow along with you and to love you unconditionally through all our adventures in life together. I love you.”

“Heather, j’ai trouvé en toi ma meilleure amie, ma plus grande fierté, ma plus grande joie, aujourd’hui, je peux le dire assez sereinement, tu es l’amour de ma vie. Je t’aime.”

Bordeaux Destination Wedding

No one quite does the destination wedding like France. Every soiree that comes out of the beautiful country takes a little piece of the French romance with it, adding to it their own story. Add reellovefilms to the almost perfect mix and you’ve reached the tipping point. Pure perfection!

From the cinematographer… Well, this was a good one…venue, guests, dress, flowers, food…all perfect, but most of all Mel and Jan are one of the loveliest couples we’ve met, and in fact I would like to say have now become friends (and we’ve enjoyed wine and good food together since they’ve come back from their honeymoon!). Mel and Jan chose to get married in France, at the gorgeous Chateau Rigaud, near Bordeaux, where they were joined by their friends and family who had travelled over from Australia and the UK. Chateau Riguad is a wonderful venue, full of character, laid back and friendly staff, welcoming host, amazing food and surrounded by rolling hills and vineyards… good choice Mel and jan!

They had an outdoor ceremony on the lawn complete with ring bearing dog and the sunshine. Mel looked stunning in her lace and layered dress by Stewart Parvin, which floated and trailed through the long grass so prettily. French photographer, a regular at the Chateau, Yves Samuel, was photographer on the day and a pleasure to work with. The staff at the Chateau made the barns for the reception look so pretty with the delicate flowers, abundance of candles and the beautiful evening light that streamed in through the windows during speeches.

A local band and resident DJ took the party into the night and I hear that it was the very small hours of the next day that everyone finally went to bed…sign of a great wedding. Thank you so, so much Mel and Jan, it was an absolute pleasure to film your wedding and am so, so glad you booked us, as it means we got to meet you both and now have two new, lovely, charming friends…what more could we ask for? X
