I’m pretty darn sure it doesn’t get more romantic than saying your I dos on the sandy shores of the French Polynesia islands. Which is just how these two tied the knot, and from the looks at the images from Sandy Tam Photography it wasn’t just romantic, it was gorgeous. See it all here.
From the Bride…Shortly after my second or third date with Mark, we had a random conversation – if we could pick anywhere in the world for our honeymoon, where would it be? Surprisingly, we both answered Tahiti and Bora Bora (Mark also mentioned Antarctica which was quickly vetoed). The honeymoon question was resolved without a lengthy conversation, but how about the wedding?
I have been to many beautiful weddings and feel lucky to be in a few wedding parties as well. It is quite amazing how every wedding is unique and beautiful in its own way and it never ceases to bring me to tears. But what kind of wedding did I want? Oddly, I didn’t have a fantasy dream wedding and I never counted down to the day I’d get married.
Following the engagement, Mark and I decided that serenity and intimacy was what we wanted for our “big day”. Destination wedding it was! And since we decided that Bora Bora would be our honeymoon location, Moorea became an easy choice for the wedding. We weren’t sure how many guests could attend but we both knew and agreed that we would be living out a dream regardless if we had 200, 20 or even 2 (which turned out to be the case!).
The day finally came! We got up at sunrise, NOT to get hair and nails done at the bridal salon or checking in with vendors. Instead, we rented a kayak and paddled out to the middle of the ocean with our two best friends/photographer/wedding party/witness (yes, they wore many hats). We maneuvered around a lot of shallow reefs and finally arrived at a nice sandy area. We got off the kayaks and were surrounded by sting rays and sharks! There were MANY of them. It was the perfect start to our wedding day. After lunch, we prepared for the wedding and the day ended with the most gorgeous golden sunset we had in the entire trip. It was simple, easy, intimate and fun. This was our dream wedding come true.
