If you need a little color in your day, you’ve come to the right place. Because this Sayulita soiree from the wildly talented Captured By Aimee is bursting with the kind of color that will whip a smile on your face in 2.5 seconds flat. It’s just a happy wedding, with two lovebirds in the center that couldn’t be more head over heels for each other. Oh, and there is a donkey. A super cute one, and if that’s not a good reason to dive right into this full gallery, I don’t know what is. See it all here.

From the Bride…While neither of us wanted our wedding to be  “traditional” or “conventional” we both agreed that we wanted our wedding to feel “special.”  We fell in love with the town of Sayulita the year prior, a magical hidden gem that exudes life, love, happiness and decided this would be the place for our wedding.  We set the tone with our vintage postcard Save the Date set on the Sayulita beach wearing giant Sombreros.  Our invitations were a papel picado motif and I had an illustrator, Samantha Sleeper, hand address each with its own unique design.

I got ready at La Gran Villa at Villa Amour, getting my hair and makeup done outside on the terrace with a 360 degree unobstructed view of Sayulita.  My Jenny Packham “Eden” dress was the most insanely beautiful thing I have ever worn.  Its head to toe beading with ornate cap sleeves were both romantic and decadent.  I felt like a walking chandelier!  Our first sighting on the patio was a moment I will never forget, then we spent the next hour with our amazing photographer Aimee of Captured by Aimee laughing and taking photos around the colorful streets of Sayulita, capturing the beauty of town.

My favorite moment of the day was our grand entrance.  I rode a beautiful white donkey, named Shakira, covered in bright paper flowers and John led us through the archway at Villa Amour where all of our friends and family were waiting for us smiling and cheering.  We led our guests in a parade to the ceremony while being serenaded by a mariachi band.

The ceremony and reception took place at Don Pedro’s Palapa, an open air thatched roof venue overlooking the entire Sayulita Bay. Our guests sat in a circle around us while our close friend performed the ceremony.  We felt it was important for everyone to have a front row seat and be a part of this moment.  After the ceremony John and I went to Playa de los Muertos to take photos, and stopped on the way for some pictures in the beautiful cemetery garden.

My vision for the reception was a colorful and romantic evening with a vintage feel. Gabriela and Guillermo of Mar Weddings executed my vision to perfection.  We filled the ceiling of La Palapa with pastel colored paper flowers and papel picado which made it feel festive, fun, and beautiful.   The table decor was my favorite detail!  We asked Gabriela to pick up different vintage plates for each of our 45 guests  at the local antique market. White linens covered with burlap table runners, and pastel flowers in mismatched flower vases spread across the tables made my vision complete!!!

Music was one of our most important details, so we hired an amazing band from Guadalajara, “Coco y Razo” who played a mix of 70′s, 80′s and current dance music while we danced the night away. The party exploded when John and I changed into traditional Mexican costumes, then had our guests join us wearing dresses, sombreros, braids, mustaches, and lucha libre masks!  Then we took turns swinging at the beautiful pastel piñata overhead and ate our favorite desert, red velvet cupcakes. We danced the night away under the stars while our guests “ooooh-and-aaaah’ed” at the surprise firework show drawing an end to our magical night…
