From the Bride & Groom… We live in Boston, but we knew our family and friends were largely on the west coast, so after some thinking, we committed to a wedding in northern California near everyone. Over the next few months, we took a few trips to venues in San Francisco and the surrounding wine country and fell in love with Healdsburg Country Gardens in Healdsburg, California. It was so intimate and inviting for a special event. It is naturally set in the beautiful Healdsburg countryside with a colorful garden overlooking an expansive view of the vineyard framed by their large heritage oak tree. Their vintage barn as well as cottage house rounded out the unique and charming character. In addition we were excited by our date (September 23rd) because it was right before the grape harvest! During the processional, we had a string quartet. The wedding ceremony respected both our heritage and cultural backgrounds, but most importantly, it reflected our shared values and beliefs. A close family friend of Leah’s was our officiant and did a fantastic job keeping us calm throughout the ceremony.
The bridemaids’ dresses were individually picked and different shades of blue. In addition, we had touches of yellow and beige. Leah wanted an informal bouquet (and not so heavy), so our florist, Heather Hendrickson, made a hand-tied bouquet using yellow Billy buttons, succulents, white lisianthus and white spray roses. The groom and groomsmen wore boutonnieres of yellow Billy buttons. The centerpieces were very informal arrangements of succulents. For fun we used the riddling racks inside the barn to place our escort cards and interspersed were also pictures from our youth. For sweets we had a carrot cake made from Downtown Bakery & Creamery in Healdsburg. Our band was also a special part of the wedding because Leah’s nephew was the lead singer! It was so memorable seeing everyone laugh and have a great time together.
