Your Thursday is about to go up a notch in the fabulous department with a stunning Honolulu affair that can only be described as tropical wedding perfection. And with a breathtaking beachside location, beautiful orchid-filled blooms by Passion Roots, floating candles and a pair of gorgeous Jimmy Choos, this soiree has me dreaming of a Hawaiian vacation ASAP. From the Bride… We envisioned a day to celebrate friends and family, and our new extended, and local, Hawaii family. We wanted a low-key and casual, but elegant day with local flair, so searching for the right venue was first on the agenda. Ultimately we chose a private oceanfront estate close to town where we could feel like we would be hosting a family get-together at home.
Next was the dress– which amazingly I knew I had found on the second day of searching, and bought right off the rack! As for touches and details– orchids were not only my favorite flower but also my husband’s late mother’s favorite flower, so our floral motif focused on orchids, from garlands in the aisle and table & place settings to welcome leis for guests who had traveled long distances to share our day with us. In keeping with each of our connection to Hawaii, I wore orchids in my hair and we exchanged fragrant pikake and maile leis at the altar. I walked down the aisle to Maunaleo– a hauntingly beautiful Hawaiian song played by a solo guitar.
To make the house even more of a reflection of us, we displayed family photos in the living room, including some old photos of our parents and siblings, as well as a picture of us and our pups who waited for us back home on the mainland. Although it rained during dinner and off and on during the reception, it allowed for amazing effects in the pool and we all enjoyed a cozy evening of laughter and friendship. We even had a cream puff tower as a part of our assortment of local desserts. Special moments? It was all memorable, even when it poured!

The dress was Badgley Mischka and the engagement ring is a custom design from Neil Lane in Los Angeles.
