It goes without saying that my job at SMP is pretty darn special, but sometimes it’s practically impossible to put together a little paragraph worthy of doing a wedding justice. Because when you run into a wedding like this Colorado beauty from Laura Murray Photography, there simply aren’t words pretty enough. Coordinated by La Boheme Events and designed by Chairished Vintage Rentals, it’s filled with little details that make my heart sing, and you can see them all right here.
Can we just pause here for a sec? How gorgeous is her Claire Pettibone “Kristene” dress from Little White Dress Bridal Shop?! The Bride had it altered to zip-off for the reception. Clever, and beyond pretty.
From the Bride…My husband and I met the first night that I moved to Colorado and were inseparable since. He proposed over a game of Monopoly and I wasted no time prepping for the most magical day of our lives. As a wedding vendor I knew my number one choices immediately for whom I wanted to help make our day perfect. Laura Murray was my first booking and we were honored to have her capture our special day. We wanted to see each other prior to the ceremony, so we planned to meet at the fallen tree that we had our first walk and kiss at during our second date. Leading up to the first look it had been sprinkling and I was stressing about a lot of things, but the second I walked up to him it was so metaphorical as the clouds seemed to part and instead of rain drops it was my tears of joy that began to fall.
Our flowers for the day were so special, as he and our florist, Robyn, from Bare Root Flora, are great friends and she put such a romantic and personal touch on all of our headpieces, my fabulous bouquet and our ceremony alter (which tied in hops plants to make it special for my hubby who works at Great Divide Brewery in Denver). Every detail lived in my head as I knew I wanted to have a romantic, colorful and dreamy wedding. We utilized a ton of inventory from my vintage rental company and for the first time, I got to enjoy all of the details throughout the night rather than just setting them up and having to leave as I do for my clients. It was so much fun.
65 years earlier, my grandparents had gone on a blind date to Elitch Gardens where the carousel stood for our ceremony, so when we found the pavilion it not only was a beautiful structure, but it was so sentimental to my family. Guests were offered mimosas before sitting down. Our ring bearers walked down with a surprise for my family. My aunt had passed away nearly 10 years ago in the line of duty as a San Francisco Fire Fighter. She raised Labradors as a part of the seeing eye dog community, so they each walked down two puppies in training as a memorial to her. The ceremony was led by my best friends mother who has been a special part of my life for 15+ years and quickly became a special part of my husbands life from that weekend on.
Guests were lead to the cocktail hour in the lush park just beside the pavilion to enjoy wine and cheese, and of course Great Divide beer. Following cocktails, we all head to the reception which was down the historic Tennyson Street in the Highlands neighborhood of Denver. My mother and I had my Claire Pettibone “Kristene” dress altered to zip off at the bottom for the reception for an added surprise. It was perfect and kept my dress so clean with lots of freedom to dance the night away.
My planner Bridget from La Boheme was so fabulous and coordinated everything beautifully. With a small chance of a Colorado shower here and there it was stressful, but she made the day easy and when the end of the night came we didn’t want to leave. Fortunately we were surprised by a crash band, Boba Fet and the Americans, who are a Denver tradition. They showed up and played some killer cover songs on the patio and sent us off in style.
