From DeFiore Photography… Warmer weather has made it’s way to Northern Colorado and the crisp, fresh air, combined with new budding flowers, inspired a wedding style shoot with a palette to match. Our styling takes the simple beauty of rich, neutral, traditional colors and meshes it with a light, old world romantic feel.

We used dark purples like blackberry and red wine knowing they would offer a striking contrast against a series of unique white floral arrangements. The flowers featured carry a southern flare, and include clematis, peris bud, Peonies and lilacs, roses, hyacinth, helleborus and smilax, all off-set by deep green flat fern, Needle-nose Ivy and Jasmine Vine. This mix offered amazing diversity in texture within the distilled color palette.

Simple yet eye-catching arrangements on the dining tables stand out against the rustic, love-worn wooden planks of the table. We also wanted to find a fun way to balance the feminine feel with the masculine energy of the groom so we pulled in some black and gray accents including moonstone, pewter and silver for the place settings.

It is our hope that this light and airy, yin/yang style concept can live on long past spring as a fit for both summer and fall weddings!

Gold + Pink Wedding Inspiration

I see no other way to intro all this pretty than with a few sweet love letters to the insanely talented vendors behind it. Cori Cook Floral Design, you’re a floral genius. We Tie The Knots, your styling is impeccable. Little White Dress Bridal Shop, you always steal my heart with your stunning designs. And to the lovely Kerinsa Marie, you’re simply amazing for snapping it all up so beautifully. Lovelies, this gallery pulls at my heartstrings like no other!

From Kerinsa Marie Photography… I’m thrilled to share this bright and colorful inspiration shoot! Although my wedding 11 years ago was unforgettable, a few of my regrets are not having gorgeous flowers or a wedding planner to help bring all the details together. It was a dream working with such a talented friends for this shoot, and it’s what I would want my wedding to be like now, if I were to renew my vows.

DIY Lush Spring Centerpiece

I don’t know about you, but my calendar is chock full of special occasions this spring- baby showers, graduations, weddings- you name it, I’m going to it! I love to help friends set up their events, so I always take note of any tutorials for flower arrangements. This fresh, luscious DIY centerpiece from Bare Root Flora & Laura Murray Photography is exactly what I’m looking for! Don’t miss any of the pretty in the gallery.

From Robyn: Spring offers such an incredible bounty of beautiful flowers that we couldn’t resist the opportunity to gather together some of our favorites to create a lush spring centerpiece perfect for the many gatherings that happen at this time of year: showers, graduation parties, Mother’s Day and other special occasions!

Materials•Your favorite opaque vessel
•A piece of chicken wire large enough to create a reasonably tight fit in your container
•Four to five types of your favorite flowers. Try to vary the shape a bit so that some are soft and fluffy, some have a longer line, some are larger, some are smaller, some are viney in nature. Variety makes the arrangement beautiful! We used peonies, lilacs, spray roses, tulips, clematis and apple blossom branches.
•One or two types of foliage. Feel free to forage from your garden for flowers AND foliage! We used dusty miller and scented geranium.
•A floral knife or some clippers–no scissors! Scissors damage a flower’s stem, prohibiting it from drinking properly.

instructions

step-1The first step to any gorgeous floral arrangement is to prepare your flowers! Make sure you clean off any foliage that will fall below the water line. Leaves in the water will encourage the growth of bacteria, which will shorten the life of your arrangement.

step-2Next, prepare your container. Bend your chicken wire to fit snugly inside the container. The chicken wire acts as a grid to hold your flowers where you want them, giving your design the shape you want.

step-3Begin by gathering and placing some of your large, fluffy flowers in a group–here, peonies and spray roses. It gives the arrangement a beautiful focal point. Next, add in some of your longer-line flowers (in our piece we used the lilac and tulips). Use the long-line flowers to create a wild, garden-esque shape. Movement is key–let the flowers reach and swoop! It will give your piece so much life!

step-4Turn your vessel around in slow circles as you design, continuing to place your larger, fluffier flowers a little lower, with your line flowers slightly taller. Begin to fill in with your foliages.

step-5 We finished our arrangement with apple branches and clematis. The viney clematis is the perfect finishing touch. We let ours peek out above our other flowers to give the piece a very wild look.
