Elegant Summer Bachelor Gulch Wedding

As a future fellow mountain bride, when photos like these from Brinton Studios come across my desk, I get extra excited. With a backdrop as breathtakingly beautiful as these Colorado mountains, and a couple of lovebirds as adorable as these two, I’m smitten from the start. And then I came upon this Pnina Tornai dress and it’s the absolute icing on the cake. See all this and more right here!

From Brinton StudiosIt can be a little nerve racking meeting a couple for the first time on their wedding day. In Lindsay and Tyler’s case, it was a breeze! I mean just look at these two!! To say they made our job easy was an understatement. It was great to get some perfect timing on light and to be with these two amazing people all day. The Ritz Bachelor Gulch served up another perfect day. We just adore working there! Thanks Lindsay and Tyler for being so wonderful!

From The Bride… Tyler and I met at Cooper Middle School and attended Langley High School together as well. It is far from your high school sweetheart story, though I did fall deeply in love with Tyler quickly after meeting back up with him and some friends at the Georgetown waterfront in DC. My best friend was in town and my high school friend Nick Zahra insisted on meeting her. Nick brought Tyler along so Tyler and I ended up being the 3rd and 4th wheel. The rest is history!

Tyler supported me in pursuing my dream of riding horses again and even agreed to buying our first home together in the horse country of Middleburg, Virginia. It was no surprise that he used our first horse purchased together to propose on my birthday. It turned out to be the best day of my life to that point. He had shipped my birthday present to my barn so I wouldn’t open it and insisted we grab it before dinner. He said I needed to march up to the hay loft to open my present. There he had set up champagne and hors d’oeuvres overlooking the sunset. He gave me a very nice camera for my birthday and encouraged me to look at the picture he took when ‘trying it out.’ I was so confused as there was a picture of my horse, Indian Princess, with a sign tied to her neck. I was shocked, excited, overwhelmed, and beyond happy when I read what was on the sign, ‘will you marry me?’ ‘Yes’ was the only word that crossed my mind.

Albeit to say, Tyler helped in making my life the most perfect fairytale that I could ever imagine living. We are lucky to have both been brought up by beautiful families. They aided in each decision along the way and we can’t thank them enough. My sister, mother, and I went to Kleinfeld Bridal in New York to pick out my wedding dress which was designed by Pnina Tornai. We chose to use Rose Petals in Vail, CO as our florist. Kyle Hodge Films recorded our video. We choose to have our rehearsal dinner at Sweet Basil in Vail, CO. Inga Cox did our hair. Michele McKamie did our makeup.

From JA Special Events… Nicole and Pete exchanged their vows on the lawn of a mountain log cabin, twenty minutes from the bustle of Beaver Creek.

Beano’s Cabin, with its massive log beams, intricate antler chandeliers suspended from vaulted ceilings, and double sided stone fireplace, welcomed guests in the cozy lodge fashion perfect for cooling fall temperatures. Over one hundred window panes with towering views of ski runs edged in golden aspen, a five course gourmet dinner prepared in a guest-facing kitchen with pristine tiles and suspended copper pots, elegant eucalyptus table runners accented in white hydrangea and candlelight, and the laughter and easy flow of conversation delighted the senses.

Guests ended the evening dancing to the exceptional music of Homeslice band under a canopy of market lights on the cabin deck, stealing an occasional breath of cool mountain air under the romantic twinkle of the Milky Way and sudden burst of a shooting star.

From JoPhotoChris and Erika’s summer destination wedding was at the Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch in Beaver Creek, Colorado, on Sept. 6, 2014. The Rocky Mountains provided an amazing backdrop for this lovely outdoor wedding ceremony. Erika and Chris live in Alabama, and Chris’s family has a winter home in Beaver Creek. He and Erika visited Colorado many times together when they were dating, so the Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch was a perfect choice for their destination wedding! The natural and organic details of their wedding complimented the Rocky Mountains and Colorado backdrop overflowing with pine trees. After the wedding ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails on the back terrace of the Ritz-Carlton with views of the Bachelor Gulch ski slopes in the summer. Then, everyone made their way to the ballroom for the wedding reception with the live band Raising Cain.

Beaver Creek Ski Resort Wedding

Listen up, winter lovers because this wedding is one best viewed with hot cocoa in hand. Beautifully planned by We Tie The Knots, it’s proof that snow-filled nuptials can be wildly romantic, and the pine cone-clad bouquets by Vintage Magnolia? Don’t even get me started. Cozy in to the gallery from Mi Amore Foto right here.

From The Bride…What made our wedding special was the amount of love and support that embraced us that day. We were surrounded by our closest fiends and family to share these moments with in such a majestic location. Beaver Creeks snow topped Mountains gave a perfect back drop to our marriage and Adalyn’s (our baby girl) baptism. Honestly every single detail made the day special.

From The Bride…Jason (my now husband) and I had been dating for four and a half years before he proposed and we were smitten from the start. Once he proposed, we decided immediately to have a destination wedding. We love to travel and knew we wanted to create a weekend away for all of our family and friends. After taking a trip in October (shortly after we were engaged) to visit venues in Colorado, we felt there would be no better place for a wedding than the Rocky Mountains… the same place where we both learned to ski, visited in the summer, spent our first four Thanksgivings as a couple together, and a place that had a huge spot in our hearts. With a love for the outdoors, what would be a better location to say our vows than high up in the mountains.

We decided on a September 1st wedding and chose the beautiful Westin Riverfront Resort in Avon, Colorado. A large mountain range became the backdrop for the ceremony and being from Kansas, we swooned over the view. The reception, held in a ballroom lined with windows, opened to a terrace glowing with the ambiance of festival lighting. We kicked off the weekend with a lively welcome party at the Westin followed by karaoke at a bar in Avon. The celebration continued into Saturday with a special bridal luncheon and intimate rehearsal dinner. The wedding took place on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. It was a late afternoon ceremony, followed by cocktails, dinner and dancing.

Jason and I had always thought we would see each other for the first time on our wedding day as I walked down the aisle. However, we could not pass up the adventure of taking the chairlift to the top of Beaver Creek for pictures. Our “first look” took place on a romantic bridge over a rushing river in the quaint town of Beaver Creek. We then headed up to the top of the mountain enjoying a spectacular view with our bridesmaids and groomsmen. The pictures were beyond our imagination. Between the bright blue sky, the fluffy crisp white clouds and the green of the mountains, there could not have been a more perfect setting for our wedding photos. With the girls in a bright red/ poppy color and the boys in a classic black tux and bow tie, the wedding party looked stunning.

We chose a theme of mountain chic for the ceremony and reception… all very natural, but with an elegant flare. The flowers were green and white with the use of many different textures. The bridesmaids’ bouquets were wrapped in aspen bark and the ceremony was held under an arch of lush, garden inspired florals and greens. Glass lanterns containing white and green hydrangea, seeded eucalyptus, rosemary, silver brunia berries, and curly willow branches lined the aisles. After the ceremony, the guests were greeted with signature cocktails and monogrammed sunglasses. The escort cards were set in aspen logs that my grandfather, father and I carved. Each name card was adorned with a golden aspen leaf cutout created by my aunt. The floral arrangements in the ballroom were in aspen bark vases set on moss with mini vases of rocks surrounding them. Dramatic sprays of curly willow, green and white dendrobium orchids, and eucalyptus made up gorgeous, tall centerpieces. The room glowed with candlelight, setting the perfect atmosphere for our evening.

After a sit down dinner with touching speeches from my father, the maid-of-honor and best man, our band kicked off the party. Within minutes the dance floor was crowded and stayed that way until the end of the night. Our best family friends’ children (ages 3-10) even put together a surprise dance and song for the crowd that is Good Morning America worthy. Another favorite moment came when our friends who travelled from Switzerland brought with them their traditional umbrella dance. Jason and I danced under a “parapluie” to a French love song as guests threw streamers over the top. We were told that there wasn’t a dry eye as the umbrella was decorated with colorful ribbons. The entire night felt consumed with love and emotion. Every guest was truly on a Rocky Mountain High. I could have not imagined a more perfect way to start my life with my new husband.

I have to give a special thank you to our incredible vendors. My mom and I spent time meeting with different companies and choosing ones with whom we connected. By the end of the wedding planning process, I wanted to be best friends with each of them. They really helped us create a night that was exactly our vision, while adding unique touches that represented Jason and me as a couple. We could not have done it without them and appreciate their hard work to create a night so special that our guests are still reminiscing and re-living each detail of the wedding. It truly was the wedding I had always dreamt of.
