It has to be near sublime about getting married on a mountain top among the clouds. Romantic, right? And with the help of Bluebird Productions, this wedding was elevated in almost every sense of the word — florals from Harrington Smith, Louboutins, and of course one stunning Anna Maier gown. Just take a peek at the moments captured by Elysium Productions and Robin Proctor Photography.

From the bride… Brandon and I met about 10 years ago on a tiny island in the Bahamas called Cat Cay. Our families often vacationed there but we’d didn’t cross paths until August 2003 when Brandon approached me in Bu’s Bar, the only bar on the island at the time. We decided to keep in touch and exchanged AIM screen names-yep this was even before Facebook days. We were both born and raised in Miami so over the years we ran into each other a few times but the timing never seemed right to start dating until August 25, 2008 when we finally had our first official date (once I was officially of age and single). Fast forward to November 26, 2011, Brandon asked me to marry him. Early on in our relationship we had taken several trips out to his family’s house in Aspen and fell in love with the town. Even though it was going to be tricky getting our guests there, we knew Aspen was the best choice for an unforgettable wedding. We still wanted to keep our roots close to us, so we decided to engrave Cat Cay’s coordinates inside our wedding rings to always keep that special place close to us. Planning a destination wedding while in law school was very tricky to say the least, but it felt so amazing to see how our family and friends reacted to Aspen once they arrived for the wedding weekend. Some of guests had only been to Aspen in the winter while most had never been there at all, so the beautiful setting blew them away. Brandon and I wanted an elegant yet warm and romantic wedding where our friends could enjoy sipping champagne by the fireplace. With that in mind, our colors naturally gravitated to soft golden and ivory colors with hints of deep red. The morning of my wedding I remember jumping out of bed and rushing towards the window to inspect the sky just above the mountain range for clouds. Many Aspen locals had told me about the regular Colorado afternoon showers during the summer and that was pretty much the only thing I was nervous about since the ceremony was outdoors at the top of Aspen Mountain. The local weather forecast, which I tried to avoid checking at all costs, also predicted rain on our wedding day. Our wedding began at 5 p.m. and for the first time in a week, the sun shone brightly all day. You can imagine how grateful we were! Once we arrived to the ceremony site, I was excited to have our violin quartet play several versions of modern songs like “Marry You” by Bruno Mars and the Postal Service’s “Such Great Heights” for our guests. Brandon even convinced me to have “The Final Countdown” violin piece play as he walked down the aisle — marriage is all about compromise right? Since Brandon is Jewish and I’m Catholic, the religious ceremony celebrated both of our religions and it was wonderful to see Rabbi Vardy blend our cultures in such a lovely way. After the ceremony, we descended back to downtown Aspen on the Silver Queen Gondola. This was one of our favorite moments because it gave us about 10 minutes of privacy after our ceremony to savor the beautiful afternoon light cast over the mountains just moments after becoming husband and wife. You could hardly ask for a more serene and romantic moment on such a whirlwind day.Once we arrived at the bottom, we nestled into a horse drawn carriage that whisked us away to the Hotel Jerome reception where our family and friends were waiting for us. One of my favorite moments was walking into the entrance of our cocktail hour and reception where you could see all the details come to life from the branch archway twinkling with lights to our wedding cake covered in ombre pink, red and purple calla lilies. We had decided to give our guests pine-scented candles as favors to remember Aspen and we lit some extra ones around the table. Soon the cocktail room was filled with the scent of pine trees as we watched the sommelier pour champagne down a tower of coupe glasses assembled below a dear antler chandelier. After the cocktails, I reluctantly shed my long lace veil that had my new initial “K” woven at the bottom. I loved it so much I hope to hang it over our baby’s crib one day. Once the doors were opened to the ballroom, it was wonderful to see the afternoon light pouring in from the large windows around the room with views of the mountains. We were also excited to see how guests reacted to the oxygen bar. Most Miamians have never really experienced one so it was fun watching everyone head over throughout the night to get their fix of purified oxygen in eucalyptus and mint aromas. The air around us was filled with a wonderful blend of music as our band and DJ artfully infused the playlist with everything form the Jewish Hava Nagila to the Cuban Guantanamera. I also loved seeing the mirrored table numbers hanging delicately under a mass of beautiful dahlia centerpieces. The flowers even followed us all the way to our suite when Brandon and I stumbled upon scattered petals, which my bridesmaids Cat, Eli and Dolo secretly arranged in our Hotel Jerome suite before the after party was over. Brandon and I met out in the ocean but we created our new life together on top of a mountain at 11,212 ft. It truly felt like the closest we could get to heaven and we are so incredibly thankful for everyone who helped make it happen!!
