Eco-Friendly Wedding Dresses, II
More on eco-friendly wedding dresses from the girls at Engaging Affairs!

Another favorite eco-chic designer is Deborah Lindquist, who mixes “reincarnated” and new Earth-friendly fabrics to create lushly beautiful gowns that are unabashedly romantic, more old Hollywood siren than sixties flower child…

We’re also big fans of Style Me Pretty favorite Olivia Luca, whose website allows you to design custom bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses from scratch.
Of course, the greenest fashion choice for your wedding is to recycle a dress that’s been worn before. Consider having a seamstress update your mother’s gown, or check out everything from eBay to online vintage boutiques like The Frock. There’s something so romantic about wearing a dress with a history of its own!
But in case you’re not ready for your bridal gown to be that “something old,” it’s good to know that there are more and more designers out there making sure that your new dress can be “something green!”

From Lauren and Allison…
Admit it: Before you made a single decision about your wedding, before you picked a date, or settled on a venue (maybe before you even met the guy!) you’d thought about The Dress.
And so when the big day approaches, even the most environmentally savvy bride may balk at compromising her vision of the perfect gown for a more eco-chic version. With visions of hemp dresses better suited for Woodstock than a wedding reception, who could blame you? Luckily, environmentally conscious bridal fashion has come a long way in recent years. The designers featured below have all gone green, and the results are nothing short of gorgeous!
Morgan Boszilkov uses sustainable fabrics and environmentally responsible business practices, and gives five percent of the proceeds from her Natural Bridal Collection to environmental causes. Her gowns are handcrafted in the USA and are absolutely stunning. Don’t believe us? See for yourself:

These dresses are just too pretty to only wear for one day! So in a stylish twist, some of Morgan’s gowns are convertible, with detachable bottom skirts that allow brides a completely different look for their receptions, as well as the very real (and green!) possibility of wearing their wedding dresses again.

Wedding Dresses by Stephanie James
When I was swooning over the Stephanie James dress from earlier today, I decided to check out her blog. Needless to say, I spent WAY too long drooling over her incredible, 50’s inspired creations….

How beautiful are these dresses!?!? Stephanie’s blog is filled with amazing creations, you absolutely have to check out. Even more exciting, she features tons of pretty awesome head pieces and accessories…

Sigh…so in love! Stephanie’s dresses range in price from $1200 - $4000 and accessories range from $150-$300. If you want to work directly with Stephanie, you can see the ordering information right here. Otherwise, stop in to one of her retailers and try one on!
So…I am curious to know…how many of you would consider wearing a tea length gown? I LOVE the look, but it is a bit untraditional and I would love to know who is looking to embrace the style?
Wedding Dress Trends by Anna Be, II
Here are a couple more wedding dress pics from the oh-so-talented girls at Anna Be in denver…

Christina by Junko Yoshioka
Layer upon layer of French lace – it literally made us cry when we saw it for the first time it’s so beautiful! There’s a touch of velvet at the empire line, a small detail that just pulls the entire look together.
The Quarry by Lela Rose
This is an unbelievable gown. Like all of Lela’s dresses it’s got incredible hand-details. It’s a laundered silk so it’s soft and smooth with a gorgeous flutter back detail.

Wedding Dress Trends by Anna Be
I am so excited that the girls from one of our favorite Little Black Book shops, Anna and Breanna of the beautiful bridal boutique Anne Be in Denver, is offering up her ideas and inspirations in wedding dress trends! Let’s get right to it!
From Anna and Breanna…
As owners of a bridal boutique in Denver, we are lucky enough to spend our days poring over magazines, meeting with designers, and attending fashion shows. The three trends that we are just loving in bridal gowns right now are texture, fabrics, and details. They are a modern way to infuse a little sophisticated style without going too trendy. After all, no one wants to look back on their pictures and have the equivalent of the 80’s pouf!
Texture - A dress with texture just comes to life. It’s got dimension, interest, and is something that you just want to touch and feel.
Fabrics – So long duchess satin… designers are using everything from silk wools, laundered silks, velvet, and new, modern lace.
Details – It’s the small touches that really make a dress stand out and well-placed seams, knots, tucks, and pleats prove that you don’t need bling to make a statement.
Here are a couple of our favorite gowns that exemplify these trends:

Elena by Junko Yoshioka (top left)
Love the unique fabric pearl accents along the empire line as well as the velvet chiffon overlay – so soft and buttery. Yum!
Mica by Junko Yoshioka (top right)
Check out the cord detail throughout the skirt and train – an updated take on embroidery. But this is definitely not your grandmother’s dress. It’s got a peekaboo sheer chiffon accent right underneath the bust that adds a little sass.
Lizzie by Stephanie James
This amazing vintage lace is perfect for a short dress, but it’s really the bow detail and scalloped hem that makes the dress sweet.
We have more pics from Anna Be to come!
Wedding Jewelry by Sarah Perlis
I loooooove what Sarah Perlis is doing. Her jewelry is absolutely breathtaking. What I love even more though, is that she is now offering clients a chance to design their own custom wedding rings…

Couples can come into her studio and work with Sarah from concept on, to design a ring that is completely unique and one of a kind. How great is that! If you aren’t in the NY area, she also has an absolutely gorgeous array of jewelry on her website…

Check out Sarah’s online shop when you have some time…it’s definitely worth a long look! Prices range hugely, so don’t panic if you see something way outside your budget.
Wedding Jewelry by Ornamental Things
One of our readers sent me the heads-up on this great jewelry designer out of Austin, Ornamental Things…

I am a sucker for anything gold, and anything handmade so these little gems were a no brainer…especially because they pair vintage recycled jewelry with new closures and such. I think the lockets and the charm necklaces would make such beautiful bridesmaids gift. They would also be the perfect sentimental gift for your mother or grandmother.
