From Kelly Oshiro Design… Aqua blues mixed with vibrant holiday red makes for an understated and elegant holiday table. I started with a clean base of La Tavola’s Topaz surf linen, a cool blue that reminds me of the ocean. Then to add a punch of holiday spirit, flowers in a story of red and purple, were arranged loosely in a footed apothecary jar. For flowers, I used: South American red heart roses, burgundy peonies, red ranunculus, astrania, astibe, pepperberry, Christmas bush, and seeded eucalyptus. For napkins I used a mod, palm springs-esque pattern in red and aqua and placed a posey of astrania tied with red velvet ribbon on each place setting. To finish the look, I made a wreath out of the same elements as the tabletop arrangement and overflowed a side table with extra blooms. And for the final touch, I tied a petite red velvet around my dog, Mira.

1. Glamour starts with your groom in a classic, black tux and J.Crew has quite the affordable collection for this most special of occasions.

From Paper Bloom… This photo shoot took place at the historic West End Theater, a beautiful event venue located in downtown Portland. The vendors who collaborated on this shoot were inspired by the venue’s outdoor alley that closely resembles an alley you might find when wandering the streets of Italy. In order to best utilize the narrow space, small vignettes were created to accentuate the intimate setting and color palette.

For a modern twist, the use of plexiglass was incorporated for invitations, signage and a guest book. Test tubes with roses adorned one of the alley walls, giving an otherwise plain space an instant elegance. To add prominence to the white textiles, they were silk screened with the same font used for the plexiglass pieces. The bride and groom table was kept simple, and patterned after an Italian café table, while the hors d’oeuvres table was set abundantly with fruits and cheeses. The favors table offered a pairing of olive oil and vinegar, and fresh baguettes – a classic favorite!

The bride and groom featured are a real couple, that were married a couple of years ago in her homeland of Bulgaria, where they met and fell in love while he was serving there for the Peace Corps. Their wedding celebration in Bulgaria did not include a photographer, so this was a wonderful opportunity to give them photos. Much like their own wedding, the couple wore formalwear that complimented their personal style. For an extra touch of Italian inspiration, the couple posed with a vintage-style scooter.

We were trying to have an intimate gathering, inviting only immediate family and best friends. We wanted the feel to be classy and elegant, like the use of shapes and patterns in the decor, and by having it in such beautiful but modern locations, I think we succeeded.

We personalized our wedding by choosing locations that showed off the River Valley. For most of our time together in Edmonton we lived near the River Valley and spent a lot of time running or taking walks in it. We also brought a little bit of Hawaii into the with our guestbook, a book of Hawaiian photos, and with our guest favors, pineapple shaped shortbread cookies with hawaiian flowers for the girls and surfboard trinkets for the boys.

Our favorite moment of the day was the ceremony. Walking into the Wedgewood Room of the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald after all the suspense and then finally seeing how everything and everyone came together; all of our best friends and family, and my husband (to-be) waiting for me at the front.

My best advice to brides is don’t sweat the small stuff – you won’t notice it the day of!  We loved Anthony and Rina of Infused Studios; they made us feel so comfortable and captured everything so beautifully. When we look back at the photos we are right back in the moment and we love that one day we can show our kids and grand-kids our special day.

All the fab rentals came from our favorite Luxe Event Rentals!

We weren’t quite done with this lovely fest, so when we heard the talented team at Vantage Point Films was on hand for the wedding, and had an amazingly beautiful highlight film, we were all over that. Want to see it?

From Jubilee Events … Melissa and Peter were married on a chilly November evening in Greenwich on the harbor, with a beautiful vintage / deco wedding style. Their ceremony was held in a local church with 200 of their closest family and friends. The altar was dressed with two massive fall foliage trees dripping with candles and lanterns as designed by Datura – A Modern Garden. The aisles were flanked with custom iron lanterns and nearly 200 candles.

Melissa and Peter’s reception was held at L’escale, a world famous restaurant in downtown Greenwich with the most delicious french food! Guests dined in a ballroom filled with thousands of candles and gorgeous long and round tables with beautiful branch centerpieces.

From Datura – A Modern Garden … It was clear from the first moment I met Melissa that her bouquet had to be something special. We chose white paphiopedilum orchids which were so fresh and perfect, we decided to accent them with only a single green trick dianthus at the center and a few spirals of grass at the base. For her attendants, we chose bronze cymbidium stems with uluhe fern shoots and grass.

For the ceremony, we brought in 14 foot beech trees at their autumn peak and strung Moroccan lanterns from the branches. We lined the aisle with fresh autumn leaves and accented with over sized lanterns.

At L’escale, we chose two centerpiece styles: we countered a white orchid and candle component composition in slender stemware and gathering vases with an art-deco style branch centerpiece strung with white vanda orchids and votives in blown glass globes. For their sweetheart table, we designed a custom branch cascade with willow and orchids.

From Studio B Event Designs … Lavish & Fabulous was created by Fearon May Events and Arden Hills Resort Club & Spa in Association with Real Weddings Magazine to take bridal shows to the next level by showcasing all of the vendors in themed vignette table top designs. The best professionals in the area are personally invited to participate in the show. The goal was to create a boutique style soiree that allows couples to find wedding resources in a high-end, modern and fun environment.

This space was inspired by AMC’s Mad Men. The design for this room started with the daisy chandelier, which Fearon May Events found at Ikea. The theme just took off from there. Combining the fab era’s of the 50′s, 60′s and a twist of the 2010 into one amazing retro chic vignette.

Stephanie designed labels for the mini-champagne bottles, the soda bottles, place settings, tags for the fruit cups, and chair backs.

Martha found the pretty butterfly table cloth and pulled out her grandma’s old silver. We then scoured antique stores and found depression glass and milk glass. Each place setting was done in a different color.
