Wedding Colors ~ A Profusion of Pink And Grey From Weddings And The City

When Kristin Vining sent us this recent Charlotte wedding that her sister company Weddings And The City helped orchestrate, we were blown away by the details!

Elle and Todd were married this spring at The Green Uptown in Charlotte, NC. Their gray, pink, fuschia, purple {and every shade in-between} color palette was their inspiration and boy did they run with it! What a perfect palette for oodles and oodles of rose petals, crystals and orchids …

… not to mention a clear tent, silver chivari chairs, stunning linens and … well, you get the picture!

From Courtenay at Weddings And The City …

Elle had envisioned her wedding day all of her life! She knew exactly what she wanted! The BIG day took place in uptown Charlotte, at The Green, with the ceremony on the top tier, cocktail hour on the middle tier and the reception on the bottom tier in a clear top tent. Although Mother Nature worked against us most of the day, it stopped just in time for the ceremony and held off during the reception. It was absolutely gorgeous and full of color!

Elle, today’s beautiful bride, was raised by her grandparents. She knew that someday, somehow, she would find that same true love that they had shared ~ a love filled with absolute care and respect. She vowed to settle for nothing less. After her grandfather passed away, her devotion to her grandmother and her dream to find the same kind of love that her grandparents had shared, eventually led her to Todd.

I know it sounds cliché, but I knew from the first moment we locked eyes that we had a connection. Todd is everything and more I could have ever hoped for. Todd is my fairytale ending and one of the most amazing people I have ever met.

We thank both of you, Elle & Todd for reminding us that old-fashioned love and devotion still rules! And thanks to Kristin, Courtenay (WATC) and all of the other fabulous vendors who helped this day become Elle & Todd’s fairy-tale day come true!

Defining Your Color Palette

Color. It’s something that we talk about all the time on SMP. Determining your color palette is one of the first steps in creating a wedding that is uniquely you…a palette that compliments your venue, that defines your look, that allows you to design a wedding that reflects your own style and personality.

When I saw this purple inspired affair, I just about fell out of my chair. This wedding is a lesson in color palettes. A perfect interpretation of what we believe is so important in defining your colors…layering. Varying shades of color so that there is a depth, a dimension to your style. So that your guests don’t see blocks of color, but rather a perfectly cohesive, seamless affair where effortless elegance takes center stage.

April Color Story From Eclatante Event Design

We have a gorgeous glimpse of the April Color Story from Kendall Brown at Eclatante for you today, and it’s SO absolutely SPRING-INSPIRED … you’ll practically hear the birds chirping! Kendall Brown, Donna O’Brien and Marie Labbancz do such a fabulous job creating these monthly COLOR STORIES that are published on Kendall’s blog: A Designer’s Diary. Before another spring day goes by … we wanted you to enjoy!

Isn’t that bouquet to-die-for! Beautiful Blooms is one of Philadelphia’s premiere floral design firms. And now, they have a brand new retail location that is just fantastic! Janie has a great write-up about Beautiful Blooms’ new boutique over on The Bride’s Cafe.

Kendall and her team at Eclatante are responsible for some of THE most extraordinary events in and around Philadelphia. Their website is full of gorgeous photos (thanks to the awesome Marie Labbancz) as well as some truly great advice from Kendall on creating the wedding of your dreams. And just a heads up … Eclatante will be moving into their own new space (across the street from Beautiful Blooms) in the next few weeks. We can’t wait to tell you more about that!

March Color Story From Eclatante: Shades of Blue

Color Palettes. Wedding Colors. Wedding Style. Wedding Theme. Venue. Blog. {or is it blogS} These are just a few of the soooooo many buzz words you’ll google in every way shape and form … when you begin planning your wedding. Bottom line, though, is that you’re going to spend hour upon hour looking at pictures to help you determine just exactly what it is that makes you gasp and say, “That’s it. That’s us.” We, at Style Me Pretty, try to help you do just that. Find ideas or colors or a style that will help you define you.

So, when any of our Little Black Book members is doing something that we think will help you in your searches, we just have to share! Kendall Brown, the creative genius at Eclatante, is an incredibly talented event designer. She has started publishing monthly Color Stories on her website that we think you really will LOVE. Last month, we featured Kendall’s “hot and cold running (perfect) pinks” on out Little Black Book Blog: “Girls Only Wedding Party” .

Today, though, it’s March! You just have to think spring!! And as we turn the corner into spring … we’re bringing you a sneak peek of Eclatante’s March Color Story: All About Blue.

Just a quick blip from the March Color Story on Kendall’s blog: “Bill and Donna of Beautiful Blooms were the ultimate perfectionists creating their gorgeous florals that adorned this fantasy perfectly. The centerpiece consisted of three vases wrapped in white lace paper filled with a mixed arrangement of purple hydrangea, deep plum tulips, blue curiosa roses, purple double lisianthus and muscari. At the base of the vases were smaller vases with lace accents filled with muscari. The whole table was accented with navy blue skinny taper candles.”

February Color Story From Eclatante: “Girls Only”

We have an absolutely fun and fabulous feature for you today, sent to us by Kendall from Eclatante …

Kendall Brown owner and principal creative designer of Eclatante sent us the photos from her February Color Story shoot… and we just had to share! Each month on her blog, A Designer’s Diary, she features a Color Story that will truly inspire you and leave you asking for more!

We hope to bring you many more of Eclatante’s COLOR STORIES … but for now, let us know what you think about this one~~~

FEBRUARY COLOR STORY from Eclatante

When we think of February, our next thought is, naturally, Valentine’s Day. And our favorite February parties are bridal showers and girls’ soirees we get to throw for our brides with upcoming weddings. So, this month, for our fantasy party, we decided that our color story would be hot and cold running PINK!

The team totally outdid themselves this time! And, once again, our praise and thanks go out to Marie Labbancz, our wonderful friend and photographer. It is truly rewarding to see one’s work so perfectly captured.

We shot this gorgeous color story at the enchanting Please Touch Museum in Fairmount Park.

(The Septa bus Oksana is exiting from is actually part of the “Roadside Attractions” exhibit!)

Now, let me tell you how our February story begins – paper flowers. I’ve wanted to have a party with paper flowers forever. So, Beautiful Blooms indulged me and created these really pretty flowers out of white iridescent and soft pink paper that we strung from strands of peach and white pearls over the table. Vic and the boys from VU-Events masterfully hung all the paper flowers and lit our pretty pink table perfectly!

For the centerpiece, Beautiful Blooms filled apothecary jars with layers of rose petals, hydrangea petals, light pink cut glass, white sand, dried ivory roses and pearls. They also filled glass vases with swirled pearls and floating candles. Light pink tapers in footed candleholders completed the centerpieces perfectly.

The gorgeous linens came from our friends at The Total Table. The darling favor boxes were created by our favorite geniuses at Two Paper Dolls. We filled them with a mix of Good & Plenty, Hershey’s Kisses and a variety of pink and ivory candies from The Lil’ Candy Shoppe in Northern Liberties. And the stunning place settings (notice the great glassware), table and chairs came from Party Rentals, Ltd.

Max and Me Catering did a fantastic job of of coming up with food and drink that was coordinated perfectly with the décor. Just look at those irresistible cosmos and glasses of pink champagne and wonderful white wine. They also created a beautiful entrée of Diver Scallops with a Celery Root Puree and Citrus Beurre Blanc. Our kudos to David Robison, Max and Me’s Executive Chef and Theresa Linskey, the Sous Chef. The Girls Only Party was not only gorgeous, it was also incredibly yummy!

Mary Helen Raneiri, the owner of Suky Occasions came by and styled Oksana in a scrumptious pink party dress. Claudia Seyler of Claudia Seyler Beauty did a fantastic job on Osaka’s hair and makeup. Beautiful Blooms created the perfect nosegay of peach spray roses with pearl accents for our guest of honor.

A huge thank-you to Kendall ~ Eclatante … Donna ~ Beautiful Blooms (we LOVE the paper flowers!) … and Marie ~Marie Labbancz Photography for this fabulous February eye-candy. We can’t wait to see “March”!

Valentine’s Day “Anti-Recession E*Session” Giveaway From Epic Motion

On one of my late-night forays into our wonderful Little Black Book Blog-Land, I noticed that one of the great LBB cinematographers, Ryan Koral at Epic Motion, has announced a Valentine’s Day “Anti-Recession” E*Session Giveaway Contest. The deadline is “ASAP”, so we wanted to be sure that you guys had all the details. Epic Motion is based in the suburban Detroit area (but has clients throughout Michigan, the Midwest and beyond).

1. You are engaged to be married

2. You like to smile and laugh

“At the beginning of the wedding planning process, I was certain that I didn’t want a videographer. I assumed that having one wasn’t necessary, but now I’m extremely glad that I changed my mind (with the help of my mom). I would have MAJORLY regretted my decision had we not had one. As all the married ladies know, the day goes by faster than you can ever imagine and there is so much that you don’t get to see. Now we’ll be able to relive the day whenever we want by simply popping in the DVD. I absolutely LOVE Ryan. He is one of the best in the business and his work speaks for itself. I was referred to Ryan by our photographer and he is the first and only videographer that we met with. At our initial meeting, he showed us a few demos and both my mom and I were nearly in tears. It was at that moment that I knew we had to have him shoot our wedding. He is an absolute blast to be around and was extremely unobtrusive on our wedding day. I’m so excited that we were able to work with Ryan and the rest of the crew at Epic Motion – they are all around great guys!

Wedding Colors Set The Tone For This Summer Wedding

After setting the date, finding the church, finding a reception venue, dreaming about your gown … the next thought on your mind might be your wedding colors or color ‘palette’ as it’s lovingly referred to these days! Tara Pollio of tara pollio floral-event design sent us this beautiful wedding with a color palette of orange, chartreuse and pewter. Tara said, “The contrast of the bright orange and cool pewter were so unique and set the tone for a glamorous and fun wedding!”

I’m not sure what the best color palette “generator” programs are out there … but I do know that they exist. If anyone would like to leave a comment telling us what you’ve used that others might benefit from, please do!
