Before we get into all of the wedding goodness we have for you today (and I mean serious goodness) I wanted to announce our From Inspiration to Reality Challenge #2 Winner! If you remember, our next team to transform one of your boards into a real life photo shoot is the FABULOUS photographer Agnes Lopez, the lovely event designer and florist Liza Chung and cinematographer (who is awesome by the way) Eric Torres. And together, they’ve chosen this fashion inspired board that Mariah designed…

I LOVE that they picked such a high glam board to transform. It will be incredible to watch this really come to life, to see the ideas and inspirations that Agnes and team will come up with. SO, SO, excited! Just a quick sidenote…the photoshoot will be featured around the 24th of November as it will take a couple of weeks to order flowers, get the styling done, and process the images. Seriously, can’t wait to see the final product!

From Inspiration to Reality – Challenge 2!

We had such a blast with our From Inspiration to Reality Challenge that we’ve decided to make it a regular feature on SMP! We have vendors lined up from now until February who are super excited to turn your inspiration boards into a real life photo shoot, complete with tons of inspirations and ideas that can be translated into a perfect wedding. Leading up our next team is Agnes Lopez, a brilliant photographer out of the Southeast. Together with Liza Chung (event designer and florist) and Eric Torres (cinematography), the team is going to choose their favorite Style Circle inspiration board to bring to life!

From Inspiration to Reality: The Design

If you’re at work, you might want to go ahead and take your coffee break. If you’re at home, grab a cup of joe and cuddle up with your laptop. Today’s feature requires total attention as you are going to find so much inspiration tucked inside each and every image.

It’s time to unveil our absolutely incredible photo shoot, all inspired by Bran Coprata’s ridiculously fun inspiration board. Before I get to the photos, I have to say that we had an insanely talented team of vendors working on this shoot with us. Photographers Justin and Mary Marantz, event designer Sarah True of True Events, florist Yumiko of Hana Floral, fashion guru Beth of The White Dress by the Shore, make-up and hair artist Jennie Fresa and invitation expert Karen of Grapevine Invitations helped us put together a shoot that is filled to the brim with gorgeousness, filled to the brim with so many steal-worthy ideas.

Our shoot was held at the Back Porch Restaurant in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. It’s this great little spot right on the water and served as the perfect backdrop. We wanted to throw a really girly, vintage inspired affair that was affordable and accessible on any budget. For the most part, everything was salvaged or DIY. We used vintage juice glasses for vases that we filled with an effortless collection of garden flowers (more on that later), little ice cream bowls packed tightly with carnations and a collection of mismatched found plates (you can also rent things like this). We used the restaurant’s flatware, homemade pies (baked by your truly), colanders filled with strawberries and old perfume and apothecary jars to accent the table.

The centerpiece of the table was really those AWESOME poms. Aside from being a breeze to put together, they brought that huge pop that we needed. Love, love, love them and will definitely be using these a lot going forward. We accented the table with some ridiculously adorable details…old coke bottles (found at the grocery store), pies that we tied with yarn, and tucked a wooden spoon into, and the most adorable menus/seating cards that Karen at Grapevine did for us that we tied to the back of each chair.

We have lots more coming up from all of our vendors…including info on the ridiculously fabulous dress that our cute model, Lyndsey, was rocking. Stay tuned!

From Inspiration to Reality: The Board

I don’t think that I’ve ever been more excited to write a feature than I am today. It’s basically my favorite day EVER on Style Me Pretty. Why, you might ask?

Well…you all might remember the Inspiration Board contest where we asked readers to design a board based on a wedding style that they would like to see come to life. We had some of the most amazing entries you’ve ever seen but managed to choose our very favorite board….a 50’s inspired style with girly, super flirty details. Designed by the FABULOUS Bran coprata over on the Style Circle, this board was perfection.

So coming up today, we are going to share the photos from the shoot that we did, literally bringing this inspiration board to life! The day definitely exceeded all of our expectations and we ended up with a wedding style that just about anyone could do no matter what budget they are working with! Stay tuned.

Style Circle Guru!

Love, love, love the boards that the fabulous Colette is putting together over on the Style Circle. She actually first caught my eye with this boudoir board…kind of sexy, kind of fabulous. But in the end, it was the inspiration board below that completely got me…

The best part though, is that Colette adds such fun commentary to her posts…with color palette ideas, really great details, and fun little tidbits about her own upcoming wedding. There is never any issue finding gorgeous board designs on the Style Circle these days… the only hard part is trying to picking just one to share! So, in honor of the first day of October, here is an apple-picking, playing-in-the-leaves, sweater-wearing, kind of autumn, Inspiration Board. Style Circle Standout Inspiration Boards

Along with some pretty great blogs, the Style Circle brides are churning out some of the best inspiration boards I’ve ever seen. Many of them give the boards we’ve featured on SMP a run for their money, so I wanted to highlight a few of my absolute favs…

Pinga’s boards are nothing but gorgeous. I have no clue which one of hers is my favorite because they are all so stinking great. Here is one that just leaps off the page…

So…we are constantly on the lookout for really great inspiration boards over on the Style Circle. An inspiration board is the very FIRST place you should start when planning your wedding. It will help you hone your vision, bringing a sense of cohesion to your wedding style. It will be a continually changing tool that will allow you to weed out your many loves and come up with a really focused look and style for your wedding. One that you can bring to your planner, your florist, your best friend so that everyone understands the look you are trying to achieve!

Style Circle Guru!

Time for another installment of…”who is kicking some serious butt over on the style circle.” I’ve had my eye on Bianca’s blog for a few weeks now but this last Pajama Inspired board that she did is absolute perfection. She built the board to inspire a really fun bridal shower and I have to say, I am completely smitten! Think…”Striped tablecloths, a coffee bar, muffins, pillows galore, Chinese slippers and of course, a fancy PJ dress code.” Too cute!

Inspiration Board Weekend Challenge Winner!

After MUCH deliberations, we have chosen a winner from our inspiration board challenge. For those of you that missed it, we asked Style Circle Brides to design a board that they would like to see “come to life.” Together with Justin and Mary Marantz, Sarah True of True + Wesson, Yumiko of Hana Floral, Beth of The White Dress by the Shore and Karen of Grapevine Invitations…we are going to bring the winning board to life with a fun and completely inspiring photoshoot. Fall Wedding Inspiration From The Little Black Book

Even though it’s still HOT in Texas, I know that most of you are starting to feel the cool crisp air of fall, and I envy you! So, to get into the fall feeling, I thought I’d try creating one of my own inspiration boards over on the Style Circle. Have to admit, it was really a fun change of pace for me …

The neat part about this, though, is that you can hover over each photograph for the credits. And if you click on each image, it will take you to the full-size image (try it!). Inspiration Board Weekend Challenge!

We have an INSANELY fun challenge for you today! Crazy fun, really. We’re teaming up with Justin and Mary Marantz, Beth of The White Dress by the Shore, Yumiko of Hana Floral Design and Sarah True of True & Wesson to do a photoshoot built just for SMP readers. Remember the Laundry Shoot that the crew did…well we loved it so much that we’ve decided to collaborate on a new shoot entirely for Style Me Pretty!

Here is the fun part (if that wasn’t great enough)…the design and concept will be inspired by one of YOUR inspiration boards. Yep, we’re challenging you guys to an inspiration board design-off, where the winner will actually see their work come to life!

So here’s the deal. Head on over to the Style Circle and build a board around the theme of your choice. It can be shabby chic, modern, eclectic, whatever. Anything that you love. Just make sure to title your board PHOTOSHOOT INSPIRATION. Myself and the team mentioned above will choose our very favorite board on Monday…and will literally bring it to life in a photoshoot the following week. Ummmmm, does it get any better than this??
