Traditional Elegance

40’s Inspired Wedding by Jeremy Harwell, II

July 2nd. 2009 by Abby Larson | 5 comments

I la-la-love this wedding. It’s so girly, so charming, filled with perfect details that would make any girl completely swoon. I am thrilled that the photographer, Jeremy Harwell, sent it my way!

The incredible flowers were designed by Virtu, a great floral studio out of Atlanta. Their portfolio is filled with absolutely gorgeous designs that hint but don’t overwhelm you with their natural elegance. Love them.

40’s Inspired Wedding by Jeremy Harwell

July 2nd. 2009 by Abby Larson | 11 comments

I took one look at this lovely wedding and knew that it was an SMP feature. There is something so sweet, so precious about the 40’s inspired affair. Jeremy Harwell, the photographer behind the day, did a spectacular job at telling the beautiful story of the day.

The location itself, Dunaway Gardens, is unbelievably special…it was originally established by a film actress and her husband and served as a training ground for producers, directors and performers of the arts during the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. Walt Disney was even a frequent guest! So, this lovely couple, found their inspiration in the venue’s roots and designed a wedding that seemed at home in the perfect space.

Navy and Yellow Wedding in California, II

July 2nd. 2009 by Abby Larson | 15 comments

The weddings that are hands down the most popular on SMP, are those that seem approachable, that resonate with brides in all different areas working on all different budgets. Those where inspiration is found tucked within every corner. Those that have a clearly defined color palette and easy to replicate ideas. And those that are undeniably fabulous.

This wedding, photographed by Sweet Monday,  is just that…and so much more. It’s designed to a “T” with each detail filled with charm and style and a defined elegance that seems to infuse every element.

Navy and Yellow Wedding in California

July 2nd. 2009 by Abby Larson | 20 comments

I love this wedding. It’s that perfect Navy and Yellow palette that we have only fallen more and more in love with on SMP, with details that are one part whimsy, one part sheer elegance. Sent to us by the incredible photographers at Sweet Monday, this affair is all about the gorgeous.

From the lovely Lyndsey and April of Sweet Monday PhotographyThe wedding was held at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades. We loved Ami’s yellow and blue palette and her vintage but still very modern look.  Carissa at JL Designs & Events did an amazing job with the flowers and decor for this wedding and really brought Ami’s vision to life. Caroline Cheng of Serenity Events did the coordination.

Sweet, Traditional Wedding in San Francisco, III

June 30th. 2009 by Abby Larson | 5 comments

Thank you so much to Grace and David for allowing us to share in their simply beautiful day. It is such a refreshing affair, with notes of sweetness and style infused into every detail.

A few more words from the bride…

We tried incorporating the theme of nature into our event décor as well.  Our florist, Sharla Flock Designs, created stunning centerpieces with floral and natural elements including orchids, calla lilies, horsetails, ti leaves, and manzanita branches.  I had developed an interest in the manzanita after my husband and I spotted one while hiking through the woods.  As a wedding gift, my aunt created the lovely chair arrangements for the ceremony.  All of the flowers coordinated with our color palette of brown, ivory, and blush tones.

Sweet, Traditional Wedding in San Francisco, II

June 30th. 2009 by Abby Larson | 4 comments

I knew you guys were going to love this wedding. It’s just enough sweetness, just enough chic, just enough tradition to reach so many different types of brides. Here are a few more details…

Julie Mikos for Lisa Lefkowitz Photography

From the bride…

One of the messages we wanted to convey through our wedding was our love of the outdoors.  Being one of our favorite spots in the city, Golden Gate Park was the ideal choice for our ceremony.  Our reception was held nearby at the Golden Gate Club which had the formality we were looking for yet still felt close to nature.  Located on the Presidio grounds, the venue is surrounded by lush green landscaping and towering cypress.  But what really impressed us were the two-story windows in the main ballroom overlooking a spectacular view of the San Francisco bay and Golden Gate Bridge.

June Wedding In Connecticut From Justin & Mary Marantz, II

June 30th. 2009 by Eddye | 11 comments

Most of the time when we see a new wedding up on Justin & Mary’s site, we want it! That’s mostly because their ability to tell the story of the day through their images is so incredible … but also because their weddings are just so SMP-style weddings. Pretty much 100% of the time! Take, for example, today’s wedding … how much better than this does it get?

Just in case you missed the first post {here}, Suzanne and Justin were married this month at the Branford House in Groton, CT.
