Real Wedding: Karrie & Brian, II
Here are a few more pictures from today’s featured wedding…

All of these gorgeous photos were taken by Amy Squires…hands down, one of my favorite photographers in our Little Black Book! There are a few more images from this wedding on Amy’s blog, so definitely check it out when you have a chance!
There are three reasons why I am completely obsessed with today’s real wedding feature. First, the photographer is one of my favorite Little Black Book members, Amy Squires…her work is so pretty, I just love to brag on her behalf.
The second reason is that the bride, Karrie, is launching a new custom invitation business, called Posh Paperie, that is just too cute for words. I love to support up and coming businesses, so writing this post was a lot of fun for me.
And the third reason is that the wedding is FILLED with silhouettes…and I LOVE silhouettes!
So, let’s get right to it!

How great is this wedding! The cake…oh, the cake. Melody Brandon of Sweet & Saucy designed the cake and I have to say, it’s perfect!
I really love that Karrie and Brian used simple centerpieces with huge pops of green. It’s an inexpensive way to make a big impact. And to be honest, every detail reflected this same sense of thoughtful sophistication.
The couple even hired a silhouette artist to cut custom silhouettes! Ummm….I think that is about as good as it gets!! What a creative and unique idea!
I have more photos coming soon, so stay tuned!

Real Wedding by Lisa Lefkowitz
I was looking through some of my old emails and stumbled upon this wedding that Lisa Lefkowitz sent me for our unique weddings week a few months back. It’s GORGEOUS and since we are featuring Lisa in our Abby Loves section (above), I thought that I would share it with you!

I don’t have a ton of details from this stunning affair, but…I do have the vendor info and lots more pictures, so stay tuned!
I thought that this wedding was so stinking cute, sent to me by one of readers, Angela, I just HAD to share it with you guys. The wedding was inspired by their mutual love of board games…

A few notes from Angela, the bride…
Our day has finally came and gone. It comes in handy being a designer when you’re planning your own wedding. Darin and I wanted our wedding to be very special and really bring out our character. I am not the type of girl who has been dreaming of her wedding all her life. I am a graphic designer, so I started planning this project like any other, brainstorming with friends over drinks.
Darin and I met up with some friends and our amazing photographer to discuss engagement photos. They asked us how we met, what we are interested in, etc. We explained that we got to know each other through a chess event that Darin threw at his house every week. I think that is when we realized how cute and nerdy that was, and decided that board games would be a great theme for the wedding. Everyone enjoys boardgames, why not actually have them at the wedding? And while we’re at it, why don’t we re-shoot vintage board game covers so Darin and I can actually be on the cover?
This photo shoot was so fun. I’m such a fan of the old board games, because there is always a winner! and a humble loser… To be fair, we shot 2 where I won, and 2 where Darin won. After we got the pictures back, I laid out the design for the boxes. Fully equipped with their choking hazard warnings and AD logo, I set out for the printer. I don’t think I could have made these boxes without this particular printer, Bob at Graphics Factory. He recommended a thin vinyl, which worked out perfectly, and I could just stick it to the original box and voila! Our very own board games.
How great is this idea!? It’s the perfect example of how wonderful it is when a couple infuses their wedding with their own unique personality. Love it!

Tying back to our idea of “discovery”, linen journals were placed in hand-stained crates that were decoupaged with photos of vintage food labels we took during our travels together. Guests are engaged in the process of “discovering” their tables as they identify their names and table grades.

Instead of numbers, the tables were named after characters from the story, with corresponding letter grades. I made the table runner that adorned the head table as a gift for Phillip. I printed our vows and favourite poems we had read to each other during the ceremony. My crazy bird illustrations appeared again on the runner.

The concepts of discovery and childhood memories continued at the dinner tables where treasure boxes revealed childhood trinkets and candid photos of … wonderful conversation opener. Trivia questions on the menus kept guests entertained as they awaited their entree. The talented Rae Dunn (www.raedunn.com) created egg-shaped rocks and hand-stamped guests’ favourite words.

Scandalous! We managed to sneak in a moment to make out at the phone booth before heading up to the Hilltop to join our guests. Apparently they love the same brand of humor as us.

In lieu of feeding back to each other, we squished macaroons. To top off the night, guests were delighted to discover Taiwanese and Indonesian sweets at the end of the night.

Thank you for letting us share our story!
I looooooved this wedding. So chic, so thoughtfully planned, so insanely gorgeous. Tomorrow, Viola is walking us through a few of the DIY projects that she created for her big day. Can’t wait!!
