Captain R. Flanders House Rehearsal Dinner by Christian Oth Studio

Put your bib on. It’s lobster rehearsal dinner time and only on Martha’s Vineyard could they get it so, so right. This New England tradition has met its wedding match indeed and Christian Oth Studio so beautifully captured every checkered tablecloth, every sunflower-filled vase and most importantly, every last happy, happy smile from this lovely shindig. So lovely in fact, that it could be wedding and all those perfectly crafted details are ripe for the picking. We’ve definitely tucked a few away in our inspiration folders and have a feeling you will too. Because the wedding took place on an island and it was a destination wedding for everyone, it was important to the couple and their parents that all of the weekend’s events reflected a warm, intimate and hospitable atmosphere. The rehearsal dinner did that and more, and it really set the tone for the following day. The groom’s parents hosted a fabulous traditional lobster clambake, complete with fire pit and lobster bibs that said “Alice & Ben” above a red lobster. During cocktail hour, the guests wandered about the property, which includes lovely stone walls, grazing horses and an idyllic pond. For dinner, the guests were seated under a beautiful tent at nine long tables lined with gorgeous sunflowers and set with mason jar mugs, black-and-white checkered tablecloths and red napkins. A close friend of the groom’s brilliantly emceed a program of roughly 15 toasts and speeches. The night concluded with a fantastic slideshow created by a sister of the groom, and everyone departed having eaten well and laughed hard in a truly lovely setting.

Behind the Veil Savannah Bridal Event

With a lineup of experts, guest speakers, local vendors and bubbly to boot – this Savannah bridal event is much more soiree than show. So be sure to mark your calendar and reserve your tickets to make sure you are part of all the fun!

Join Savannah’s top wedding professionals for an afternoon of tastings, consultations and expert panels at Savannah’s signature boutique bridal event – the third annual “Behind the Veil,” presented by Savannah Weddings and the Telfair Museums, on Sunday, Feb. 12.

The bridal show will feature a VIP champagne brunch, with guest speaker Christopher Confero, a regional wedding planner who will share the latest trends for this year’s brides. The brunch begins at 11 a.m. at the AVIA Hotel, 14 Barnard St. Tickets for the brunch are $50 and include early admission and transportation back to the bridal event.

The bridal salon, from 12:30-5 p.m. at the Telfair Academy and the Jepson Center for the Arts, will include more than 50 bridal professionals as well as a top-label bridal fashion show featuring BleuBelle Bridal, Equinox Jazz, B Street Salon and Glow MedSpa. Tickets to the show are $18 in advance and $20 at the door. Check in at the Telfair Academy, 121 Barnard St.

Gift Wrapping Bash by Sharon Taylor Designs

As we start to taper down on the work week and visions of hot cocoa and Christmas cookies dance through our heads, we wanted to share one last bit of Holiday greatness with you captured by Adie Gateley of Twin Town Studios. Sharon Taylor Designs put together a FAB-U-LOUS gift wrapping extravaganza and she invited guest artists and sisters Elsie Larson + Emma Chapman to help craft. Think glittered leaves, old book pages, and loads of feathers and you’re on the right track. This bash is bursting with so many fun ideas to personalize all those packages under your tree and if you’re anything like me, those gifts have yet to be wrapped. But score 1 for procrastinators because now we have loads of fun inspiration to help us out. From Sharon Taylor Designs…‘Twas a Gift-Wrap Bash at Pickwick House! The amazingly talented sisters, Elsie and Emma, were the special guest artists, who along with Sharon, showcased their inspirations for wrapping adorable yuletide packages. Each student brought their already purchased gifts to the class and learned a hands-on approach to creating simple wrappings + toppers, which included pom-poms, pipe-cleaner bows, stamps, fan discs, and feather toppers.

Beach Bachelorette Weekend Photo Shoot by Austin Gros

I can’t think of a more fabulous idea for a bachelorette weekend than a little get away to the beach with your best girlfriends. Honestly I was sold at beach + friends but then I spotted yummy refreshments, steamy beach reads and a little game of cards and it got that. much. better. Sit back and prepare to be inspired with awesome images by Austin Gros and lovely styling by Michael MacKenzie. From Austin Gros… This is a shoot I did a few weeks ago in Rosemary Beach, FL. The idea was sort of a “Bachelorette Beach Weekend” – a small, simple bachelorette party weekend getaway to the beach.

Vintage Aussie Themed Bridal Shower

Instead of trying to top this morning’s gorgeous Canadian affair, we thought we would change gears and share a completely swoon worthy bridal shower sent to us by Lani Elizabeth, the floral and event designers responsible for all this pretty. The bride-to-be met her future husband while abroad in Australia so naturally, the gals behind Lani Elizabeth wanted to incorporate a vintage Australia theme for the shower, complete with boomerangs and yummy Australian wine. All of the fun details were captured by Blaine Photography and each and every picture boasts insanely creative styling filled with TONS of inspiration even if you aren’t marrying an Australian lad. As floral designers, getting to design and implement a shower for a dear friend was a ball! Elizabeth has been friends with Katherine, the bride-to-be, for nearly 20 years, so naturally we went all out! Katherine met her fiance abroad in Australia, so we knew we had to do something that incorporated an Aussie travel theme. We have a vast collection of vintage suitcases, so that was fun to bring out, as well as some of our more interesting green glass vessels for a display of tropical and subtropical blooms one might find in Australia. We selected a gorgeous knobby burlap colored linen for the tables, which added to the Aussie feel.

After scouring the fabric stores, we amassed quite a stack of retro inspired prints to create kookaburras and other birds in flight that were hung all over the space. In addition, we sewed dozens of fabric pouches to hold the favors, which were “Tim Tams,” a popular Australian cookie. As a final touch, we dug up an old Atlas from the 50s that we used to cut out a flock of birds that we carefully shaped and secured to the main wall to seemingly fly across the venue.

Working closely with Blaine Design Group, we designed a custom invitation that suited the event perfectly. Elizabeth sketched the Sydney skyline for the invite with the Opera House as a prominent focal point, as that is where the couple met for the first time, and the registry information was secured on a tag to the invite with retro inspired twine-like string.

Katherine looked just stunning in her 60s inspired vibrant turquoise dress, which complimented the exotic and colorful decor just perfectly. After enjoying some Australian beer, wine, and soda, we had a few laughs with our Aussie slang quiz and gobbled up the delectable homemade Pavlova and Lamingtons, two of the most famous Australian desserts. At the end of the day, all the wonderful women in attendance truly felt as though they had experienced a bit of “Down Under!”

Bridal Shower Inspiration

Full of charm, color, and very do-able decor, our next event is just the thing to get the creative juices flowing. This playful little bridal shower not only has me searching for an excuse to throw a party, it also makes me want to redecorate my dining room. Crafted and designed by City Cradle Design and photographed by Jackie Wonders, it just goes to show that you can totally transform what you love (and what you may already have on hand) into a super chic, fun affair.

Knotted in love was the name we gave to a recent bridal shower celebrating the bond of love that is leading the couple into marriage. We took cues in designing the shower from knotted yarn and created a homespun afternoon to celebrate a lovely new marriage.

The centerpiece for the party was a chandelier made out of large balls roped in colorful yarn hung together with button filled ribbons from the ceiling. The balls are seen in smaller version throughout the table re-made as yarn flowers. The food table was back dropped by another colorful yarn creation complete with the word LOVE knotted within the layers. the table boasted goodies like chocolate dipped pretzels, cherry pops, scones and the fixings for our panini bar. We served vegetable panini’s for our brunch meal made on a George Foreman Grill and wrapped in parchment paper. For drinks we served mimosas with adorable custom tag cocktail stirs and bottles of custom-tagged champagne.

The table for eating was set up low and each invitee received an bright and cheery old fashioned butter dish on their place as a favor stuffed with a raspberry chocolate surprise! A monkey’s fist knot wrapped in pink yarn lay in the center of the table. On the other side of the room a bookcase was set up with a yarn spelling of the word LOVE, a custom made banner and a special gift for the bride-to-be. A package of white buffet napkins was purchased and each girl in attendance knotted into one napkin, using buttons, jewels and antique spools of yarn- stitching’s were created to share our excitement and love for the brides new home. These unique creations were given to the bride at the end of the day as a special treat to pull out as she entertains as a Mrs. The vintage spools of thread were also used throughout the space and served as a great inspiration for the day. A few of them even held flowers as a vase display.

Memphis Engagement Party with Miami Chic Style
