From Adrian Michael PhotographyJesse and Eric were married in an old abandoned church in southern Saskatchewan. It was a lot of work, but they cleaned out all the spider webs and filled it with flowers! It was a perfect summer day paired with a lovely pastel color palate – set under endless prairie skies. The reception was held at Jesse’s family farm where they converted their garden into an outdoor dining room! It was a true DIY affair, from flowers to food, every detail and decoration prepared by friends and family. Sometimes wedding plans come together just perfectly, and this one is proof!

Saskatchewan Wedding from Prairie Lane Photography

There’s a reason that I happen to love fall weddings, and that reason is glaringly obvious in this sweet Saskatchewan affair.  Soft fall hues, crisp, cool weather and a crazy gorgeous “I do” celebration?  That’s what I call a guaranteed day of lovely, my friends.  And when that lovely day is combined with some fabulous fall stylings (think DIY paper florals and mason jar centerpieces) and a bride and groom who could NOT be cuter?  Even better.  See it all captured by Prairie Lane Photography right here.

From the Bride… Our wedding day was absolutely perfect. From the ceremony through to the final dance, we were filled with joy and surrounded by love. The décor, which was such a true representation of both of us, came together effortlessly. The fall weather cooperated and made for a warm afternoon in the sun with our fantastic bridal party. It was a blessing to have all of our friends and family there to share in the celebration – we were overwhelmed with the love and support of our guests. It truly was the happiest day of our lives!

Noah and I first met more than ten years ago when he was playing CIS volleyball with my older brother. My family often went to watch his volleyball games and I knew Noah as the tallest boy on the team. He came to live at my parents’ farm to work in the summer of 2007 and I didn’t think much of it. He was done with university and I was still in high school; I was his buddy’s little sister and he was my brothers much older friend – nothing more. He was a great family friend and sparks didn’t fly between us until three years later when I was finishing university. I ran into him one evening at the bar, gave him a big hug, and introduced him to my friends as “Noah, the boy I’m going to marry!” We soon began dating and two years later were engaged to be married.

I bought Noah tickets to see George Strait for Christmas 2012 and the concert was in North Dakota so we planned a quick weekend trip to the States. We were on our way back home and had to pass through the tiny town of Rugby, North Dakota. Noah had done his research and realized this small town was actually the Geographical Centre of North America. We stopped to take pictures at the landmark and it was there that Noah proposed!

My best moment of the day was after supper, during the program, when one of our groomsman surprised us with a song he had prepared. I listened to him sing and was brought to tears as I stopped and took in that special moment. I looked around the room and realized that every person we loved was there with us, and all of our preparations had finally come together to create the most wonderful day of our lives.

My favorite wedding detail was the décor. From the mason jars to the antique wooden doors to the antlers, it was all such a true representation of Noah and me.

Saskatchewan Wedding from Jesslaine Elise Photography

I wanted to kiss each and every image of this wedding from Jesslaine Elise Photography. Why? Because it’s just everything. Sweet and stylish all wrapped up in a wedding overflowing with love. Old, New, Borrowed & Blue Wedding and Event Planning sprinkled in the prettiest of details to make this wedding just pure perfection, and it’s all sitting pretty right here.

From Old, New, Borrowed & Blue Wedding and Event PlanningMarissa and Jason made an ever-lasting first impression on us, so much that after our first meeting with them we squealed with excitement about the opportunity to plan their special day. We gushed as they playfully described their perfect wedding day as “urban granola chic” and emphasized that they wanted it to be socially and environmentally conscious. Marissa wanted to enjoy her day and to not feel rushed in the morning, so we planned for a ceremony in the late afternoon. The plan played out perfectly; Marissa was able to sneak in some extra z’s so she could be well rested and outlast everyone at her celebration, plus she was able to enjoy getting ready with her bridesmaids, including her brother, the Man of Honor. They joined the rest of the wedding party to relish in an intimate brunch, but just before, Jesslaine Elise Photography was able to capture the most genuine moment when Marissa and Jason first caught glimpse of each other.

Marissa and Jason wanted their religion and traditions, as well as personal interests to play a big part in their special day. They were married outdoors behind the MacKenzie Art Gallery, between two rows of tall, shady trees on a perfect sunny prairie summer day. Because Marissa’s family and many guests speak French as their first language they had a bilingual Justice of Peace and a multi-faith minister who performed the ceremony together. Marissa and her Papa built a ceremony backdrop that used embroidery hoops with lace that matched the circle embellishments on her dress and invites, and Marissa used her mother’s veil as a table overlay for the signing table. Marissa’s close friend designed the programs that were bilingual and the backside was finished off with a thank you to everyone in attendance, along with a picture of a vintage fan with a note that cheekily explained that the programs doubled as a fan.

Sticking with the unconventional theme, Marissa and Jason wanted to walk down the aisle together. Their parents walked down the aisle, followed by their wedding attendants. The music then changed and Jason and Marissa walked down the aisle together holding hands. During the signing of the marriage license, guests shared a touching moment where Jason’s brother played his acoustic guitar and Marissa’s brother sang. It so elegantly symbolized the uniting of their marriage and families. A seat was reserved in the front row so guests who were not able to make it to the wedding could watch the ceremony via a live feed.

The reception was held at The Willow on Wascana, a beautifully situated restaurant overlooking Wascana Lake. Guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers outside before making their way into an open tent. Flowers from Fresh & Green Flowers made a perfect impact. The centerpieces were created to compliment the natural setting on the lake and created so guests could still converse across the table amongst each other.  Beeswax candles, that were made locally, lit up the tent and created a glowing atmosphere along with string lights hung from the ceiling. A dessert bar was set up just outside the restaurant that used upcycled lace curtains as a tablecloth, paper garland created out of old books strung across the table, and vintage milk vases filled with fresh flowers were placed between the desserts. Three flavours of macaroons from le Macaron were carefully selected.
