Can’t stop wearing your mint J Brand skinnies? You are not alone. Sweet Woodruff reimagined your new favorite pants along with Miuccia Prada and Alex Wang’s pastel palette from the runways into one sweet Vicky Starz photo shoot. This smartly styled set avoids sending us all into a diabetic coma positioning purple peonies, peach garden roses and baby blue baroque frames against the exposed brick and clean white walls of Mrs. Bridal Boutique (where you can also get the accessories and dresses like that peplum bridesmaid beauty). Semi carb-conscious candy girls, grab your floss and check out the full photo shoot here.
When we teamed up for a creative brainstorming session, spring was just around the corner and we thought, what better way to celebrate than with a styled shoot, inspired by our favourite 2012 spring trend: pastels! Pretty, subtle and charming, pastels rocked our world this season. From runway to real-way, we wanted to illustrate ways in which brides can incorporate this sweet trend into their weddings without a complete sugar high! When putting our ideas together, we wanted to make sure the feeling was cute, but with ladylike style! So we managed to portray these engaging sherbet shades with a hint of vintage to keep it chic.
We found the perfect space which was an ideal backdrop for our vintage style pastel shoot at Mrs. Bridal Boutique in Toronto, co-owned by Kelly Power and Michelle Gunn. This charming shop is a three-story Victorian with brick walls, high ceilings, and an abundance of natural light. Both rustic yet modern, the boutique created a backdrop that lent itself perfectly to the style of the shoot. When selecting the dresses, we chose ones that were sweet yet stylish, perfect for that bride looking for a modern alternative to the traditional bridal gown. We brought the talented beauty experts Lauren Williams and Emily Hartzman, co-owners of Lift Beauty Boutique, on board to provide the gorgeous hair and makeup looks for the shoot. We totally gushed with what these girls did with our sugar-coated, lip-smacking, ice cream shades and modern take on a vintage theme. Totally in tune with what’s trendy and fashionable, the girls took the best spring trends and brought them to life.
The simply stunning cake, cupcakes and cake pops were provided by the truly gifted cake designer, Lori Hutchinson owner of The Caketress. Her signature style added such a beautiful statement, managing to be both chic and oh so cute. Stunning floral arrangements and bouquets were provided by Lisa Collins owner of Sweet Woodruff. Lisa wanted to ensure that the flowers were fresh and feminine, to compliment the vintage, ladylike style of the shoot. She used all the stunning pastel shades, but added texture by using a variety of different spring blooms, like candy-pink ranunculus, blush and peach garden roses, and light lavender tulips. Vicky Starz of Vicky Starz Photography captured it all with simple, clean and classic images that pulled everything together flawlessly. With the use of natural light, each item’s textures, tones and colours worked well to complement each other. The pastels and dresses remained soft and feminine while the gold provided just the right amount of shine.
