My parents just so happen to be high school sweethearts, so I have such a soft spot for couples like this one who found true love so early in life. Well, when it came time for these two to tie the knot (twelve years later), they did so in such an adorable fashion I could squeal. Captured by SBP Photography, this gallery is just downright darling.
From The Bride…Johnnie & I have been together for 12 years and are truly high school sweethearts. We were engaged over Christmas 2011 and spent 20 months planning this big day. We both wanted a wedding that was personal, relaxed and overall just a great experience for guests. We were told of Country Heritage Park through a close friend and were lucky to secure a date for the Gambrel Barn in 2013.
Our décor was a combination of personal touches with rustic elegance and country chic. Our ceremony was our first opportunity to set the mood for our guests. To enhance our reception space, we opted for a ceremony location further back on the 80 acre property. As guests arrived they were greeted with a tractor drawn wagon ride through the grounds to the service. We felt the sign “pick a seat, not a side” embodied the exact feeling we wanted in our wedding. The table we signed our marriage license on was made by my brother-in-law, one of our groomsmen. All of the barn board signs and burlap banners were hand painted by our beautiful wedding party! We also opted to see each other before the ceremony so that we could have a little time alone and have more time for photographs.
Though we have yet to find our country oasis, we are truly country people. We wanted this to be reflected in our wedding. We used great country songs for our table names and even our pick up truck to drive us back to the reception.
The barn was tastefully decorated by both our coordinator Jenna Larman as well as many family members who were up bright and early the day of the wedding. The tables included burlap squares with wooden chargers, lanterns & a white balloon. We both have a love for a good sing along at a party, so we had custom carved wooden spoons placed in mason jars at each table to act as our microphones for later on in the night. Our favours focused on two charities that are very close to both the families, Autism Society Canada & Alzheimer Society Canada.
Johnnie & I both have roots in the Maritimes and wanted to bring some of the East Coast to the Barn that night. Our gift table was beautifully decorated with a lobster trap (custom made by a family friend), a lighthouse, a dori & replica of the Bluenose.
The day was absolutely beautiful. But it was all of our guests, our family & friends that truly made the day perfect for us. We are so excited to start our lives together as husband & wife!
