This wedding is the perfect mix of all things pretty. Think a breathtaking (+ uber-cool) setting (hello, Art Gallery Of Hamilton), vibrant blooms from Sticks And Stems and the coolest bridesmaids’ dresses you will ever lay your eyes upon (thank you, BCBGMaxAzria) in one modern meets romantic day. See it all captured beautifully by Nikki Mills right here.
From the Bride… We wanted our wedding day to be a celebration of the two of us with all of our closest friends and family. Going into the details we really wanted to have an amazing and unique event space. We spent a lot of time looking at venues all over the GTA, and ended up choosing the Art Gallery of Hamilton. It could not have been better choice, or a better day. It was a very raw space that we could really create an amazing space.
We knew we wouldn’t need a wedding planner, but we weren’t sure about a day of coordinator. We did some research, but in the end opted not to do it. We just had to stay very organized. Everything worked out really well thanks to the venue having amazing staff and the wonderful vendors we worked with.
The venue truly was a blank canvas. A lot of people and everyone had their doubts about the space being too cold, but I had a vision in my head of how I wanted the space to look. A lot of the DIY projects weren’t your typical wedding DIYs. With help from the groom, bridesmaids and our families, we created art for the white walls, chandeliers to be hung from the ceiling, my Mom made the table runners and my veil and I sourced almost all of the vases from thrift shops. We printed our own invitations, and created and designed the table numbers, place cards, seating charts and directional signage.
By the last song, I didn’t want the night to end. It couldn’t have been a better day to celebrate spending the rest of my life with my new husband.
