When I see the name Hazlitt Vintage Rental pop up on my computer screen, I know something amazing is coming my way.  Because drop-dead gorgeous weddings and vintage lovely?  They go hand in hand.  And when that vintage meets country chic soiree is a stunning al fresco party complete with DIY details, freshly picked bouquets (!) and soft pastel hues?  It’s more than amazing… it’s perfection.  See so much more from Holly Dalton Photography in the full gallery.  It’s a pretty-fest from start to finish.

From the Bride… Our wish for the day was that it would be one big fun party with all our friends and family!  Our wedding took place on Canada Day weekend to accommodate my husband’s brother who was in the Reserves and only available at certain times.  We also loved the idea of being able to celebrate our anniversary on a long weekend each summer.

We strayed from the traditional reception and wanted our guests be able to move around and mingle, not being restricted to one table or seating plan. We had lawn games for people to play, an amazing live band, a buffet style dinner, and lots to drink! (The dance party lasted until 3 am!)  We wanted the decor to create a casual but romantic atmosphere. To show our own personality and style we used a mix of vintage/country/chic genres with soft pastel colours and lots of simple DIY decor.

The Westover Inn is in my hometown of St. Mary’s.  It had sentimental value and it also fit our vision and theme perfectly.  The stone historic building gave us the quaint vintage feel and the gorgeous natural landscape provided wandering paths with enough shade trees. We also loved the idea of having the ceremony and reception in the same location. The Westover grounds allowed this to flow perfectly from the chapel up on the hill for the ceremony, to the tea house and tent area for dinner and dance. Also, because the majority of our guests were travelling from outside the region, The Westover Inn gave them the option to stay over and enjoy the entire evening.

Our wedding was full of DIY pieces that were complemented by vintage rentals.  Lots of work and love helped us create so much with very little expense.  We bought items at flea markets, borrowed silver, made paper flowers, collected wildflowers, used tin cans for peanuts and more.  We started with an inspiration board from magazine pictures and online.  We stretched out the workload so that we didn’t have extra stress and made it fun.  My bridesmaids were open to creating and we enjoyed our crafting sessions with wine by our side.  My talented Aunt Ingrid created all our flower decor.  We used simple dried flowers, baby’s breath and wildflowers.  Our bouquets were made with pink hydrangeas from our backyard and created the morning of the celebration.
