There’s just something about a beautiful gown set against a snowy white backdrop that sends my heart into a serious tailspin – and this fab New Year’s Eve affair by Dibble Photography is all kinds of PERFECT. The breathtaking mountain setting, the bridesmaids in blue, the gorgeous bride and groom… it just doesn’t get any dreamier than this. Plus, did I mention the groomsmen donning adorable knit caps?!? Fabulous. Click here for more.
From the Bride… We had our ceremony in the United Church. The decor was simple as anything we did would not compare with the beauty of the stained glass windows in the church itself. The ceremony turned out beautifully and without a doubt, the best part was having my cousin Tricia, an accomplished singer, perform a solo: “Songbird,” originally by Fleetwood Mac. It took my breath away.
The reception was held at Radium Resort, which is a lovely golf resort in the summer and hosts many events in the winter. I hand-wrote the seating chart with silver pen and glued each table’s list onto a piece of blue velvet which I framed with a silver frame I found at a garage sale. The chart was placed on an easel at the reception’s entrance. The table numbers were made up of photos of Tom and I at the corresponding age to the table number. They were a big hit with the guests and fun to assemble as we looked back through many a photo album to find all the pictures. We had a children’s table which was long and rectangular, and each chair had a blue helium balloon tied to it. The kids got a big kick out of playing with their balloons all evening. There was a blue plastic glass filled with crayons at each place setting, and the table was covered with paper for drawing and colouring.
Below the photo display sat the infamous blue couch, which made an appearance during our photo shoot as well. It originally belonged to my great-grandparents and we dug it out of the basement to use at the wedding. During the photo shoot we had to load it in and out of one of the groomsmen’s trucks and carted it around to our various locations. In the end, it MADE the photos. I especially loved sitting on it watching my groom play hockey with the other groomsmen. This was Tom’s only request for the wedding day — that he could play hockey in his tux! That was one of the most fun parts of the day. I was huddled with all my favourite girls, in my wedding dress, in one of my favourite places in the world, watching my new husband do one of his favourite things with all his favourite people. What more could I ask for?
