I adore this vow renewal for SO many reasons – it’s gorgeous, of course, and inspired by my favorite move of ALL time, Love Actually, but it is also a fabulous reminder of what marriage is all about. The ups, the downs, the not so pretty parts that make you stronger and stronger year after year. This couple encompasses all of that in their stunning, “all them” renewal planned by Birds & Honey Events, and every gorgeous image captured by Katch Studios is waiting for you here.

From the Bride…Where do I even begin? This is a bit of a long one ladies so please bear with me. 2013 was a year of many ups and many downs. It was also the year my father passed away so sometimes the downs get a little too much to deal with. The one thing that has always been constant in my life is my relationship with my husband. It is a relationship that I cherish more than anything in this world. It is a relationship filled with unconditional love, respect and support. It isn’t a cheesy relationship by any means. It is full of color, depth & emotion. We have days like anyone else where we don’t want to be in the same room and the very sight of the other person just makes you want to scream. We have days where we are sitting in silence, watching TV and holding hands and cant help but blush when the other glances over. We also have days where one of us falls apart and completely breaks down into darkness…this is where the other acts as not only a spouse but a true angel. For me, my husband has been that angel…constantly saving me from this darkness. The darkness that I speak of has been a life long, turbulent relationship with my father and when he passed away the world seemed to just come at a stop for me. My husband saw sides of me that I never wanted anyone to see. He never judged me, he never forced me to just “get over it”. He held my hand through it and showed me what the meaning of love was. Love doesn’t just happen on your wedding day. Love is a constant reminder we experience on a regular basis every day in our lives.

When it came time to our wedding anniversary my husband told me he wanted to renew our vows. This A) shocked me to the core because my husband is a bit of a manly man and B) We had only been married for 3 years. When I asked my husband why, this is what he told me: “Mona, It may be 3 years of marriage, but this date also represents the 10 years we have been together as a couple (our wedding anniversary is also our dating anniversary). Our wedding was full of pleasing everyone else. It wasn’t what we ever wanted. I just want it to be me and you kissing under a tree” When I heard this, I couldn’t help but tear up. Happy tears of course. I am always on edge about what people will think about us but I decided to just go with the flow without any worries in the world. I could care less what others thought of us because we only get one shot in this world, and we should spend it doing what makes us happy and my husband makes me very happy =) being a wedding planner I could have easily gone all out with flowers galore and even a new wedding dress but I didn’t want an actual reenactment of our wedding day, I just wanted the quiet setting I had always dreamed of. Something along the lines of a romantic elopement, Maybe with some balloons as our backdrop and some hand written vows like in the movie Love Actually. I wore a custom made tutu and a vintage sweater..topped it off with some gorgeous heels and I was ready to go. My hubby rocked a Hugo Boss suit and looked even more handsome than on our wedding day. Weddings and vow renewals at the core are such a sweet and intimate moments and sometimes you just need to listen to your heart and go with the flow. Everything else with fall perfectly into place.
