Proposals are my weakness. I literally can’t read a story, watch a video, or in this case, flip through the photos from Gillian Stevens without a downpour of happy tears. And as if the whole “Will you marry me” thing wasn’t enough, this sweet Groom-to-be planned a picnic for two following the big question. Yep – the bar has officially been raised for proposals everywhere.

From Gillian Stevens Photography… Set on the point of Lighthouse Park on Mayne Island, just off the coast of Vancouver. A surprise sunset proposal, engagement shoot, and candlelit picnic table topped with flowers, champagne, and berry crumble. Two people madly in love with each other, and a promise for the rest of their lives.

Mayne Island is a charming small-town located just off the coast of Vancouver, just a two hour ferry boat ride away. It was my first time visiting this little Island oasis, and I was smitten from the moment I arrived. Without any large grocery stores, my husband and I gathered supplies for the proposal from the local farmers market and trading post. The flowers were picked straight from the farm courtesy of Farm Gate Store on Fernhill Road and we were blown away with the wildflower bouquets we were presented with.

The absolute best part about this shoot was how genuine Matthew & Rachelle are with their love for each other. With a loud, YES and a warm embrace, they shared an incredible moment on a cliff edge as the sun kissed their faces. The beautiful smile on that girls face didn’t leave for a second, and was filled with the most joy a person could muster.
