From the Bride… Ryan and I met working at Heritage Pointe Golf Club. I had worked there for 4 years prior with Ryan’s younger sister and it just happened that we had never met until one fall when he came to fill in as a bartender for us in the Clubhouse. We began dating the following summer!
Well we had officially passed our 4 year dating mark and I was starting to wonder… but Ryan pulled it off and still managed to surprise me with a beautiful and sweet proposal on a beach in Maui at sunset. We had traveled to Maui 3 times prior and had fallen in love with the island and each other more and more every time we went, so it was just perfect that he chose this setting for us. It was very memorable and special.
Our Wedding Day… A sunny day- just the perfect weather to get married outside in! Everyone came from all over the country to celebrate with us- As I got my makeup done at my parents, the house was swarming with relatives and a flurry of activity. Ryan and I spent 2 awesome hours together doing our “photo shoot” as I like to call it- it was so wonderful to be with him in a quieter place for that time and enjoy smiling at each other and having fun together. The ceremony was beautiful and unique- it was amazing to look out to see all those who love us, smiling back at us. Very gratifying experience. The reception was a blast- lots of music, stories, dancing and of course kissing on command! One guest even brought a bell as a signal to kiss! We danced the night away and wrapped up the evening by changing into our jeans having a few more dances and heading off to Bragg Creek for an evening at the Riverside Chateau B&B. An amazing and special day.
Some of My Favorite Wedding Details: My bouquet- it was so gorgeous and I was so sad when I decided to take it out of water to dry it. I loved the arbor that we were married in front of because Ryan made it the night before the wedding for me. We had run out of time to put together the big cedar one that we had purchased. The decorations and flowers in the tent were another detail that we put a lot of care into- despite the rain that fell the entire week before we managed to decorate the tent beautifully so that our guests would not think about how wet their shoes were from the damp ground in the tent!
During the candid’s before the ceremony- it was a chance for us to relax and have fun together before the big event. Watching my grampa eat ribs that were for dinner and having sauce all over his face- it was so special to have my two grandparents there, so watching them enjoy themselves was a great feeling.
Our first dance- Ryan and I love singing together so we sang the whole time as we danced to You and Tequila (Kenny Chesney). We fell in love with this song one summer at Lake Koocanusa and listen to it in the car all the time and always sing along as loud as we can!
For our honeymoon, we are going to Aruba in November! We did however manage to escape to Canmore for a mini-moon right after the wedding for a few days of r&r and to spend some quality time!
