I think this beautiful Bride nailed it when she labeled her big day as country chic. With the Groom’s family farm setting the stylish stage, it was a wedding were burlap and pearls happily dance together giving it a style all of its own. A style captured to perfection by Carolyn Bentum Photography. It’s a farm fête gone fabulous celebrating one adorable duo, and you can see it all here.
From the Bride…I fell in love with a country boy. Matt loves working the land. He thrives on the long, hard hours of farming and his eyes light up when planting season rolls around each year. His country roots are in his blood and are what make him who he is. So, we did not have to look too far to find the inspiration for our big day.
Before Matt had even proposed, I had my eye on his parent’s country property, down the same road where he was raised. The area is beautiful in its simplicity and the backdrop of barns, fields and bush did a lot of the decorating for us. While I am by no means a farm girl, I like to think I have a little country in me. When envisioning our wedding, it had to be simple, but comfortable, with a touch of finesse. I may have mentioned to his parents using their property for our ‘one-day’ wedding and when they fell in love with the idea, the details easily flowed from there. Thus, came our charming, country-chic wedding.
With much help from our families and wedding party, including my two sisters and sister-in-law (who happened to also be photographer extraordinaire for the day) we took on a wealth of DIY projects. Beginning with the invitations, burlap, twine and a touch of wheat became the underlying theme throughout the décor. Old barn boards converted into signs, burlap bows hung on the backs of chairs, and a vintage door used to display the seating chart were just a few of the details. We also created an outdoor seating area out of straw bales and blankets and used old wine barrels to build the signing table at the ceremony. Though the projects took us right into the morning of, every last piece fell in to place to reveal nothing short of what I had imagined for our wedding.
Our day was, for lack of a better word, perfect. The rainy skies that were present in the days and hours leading up to the wedding cleared away just in time for the camera to capture it all. Matt and I felt truly blessed. Not only did we get to marry each other surrounded by so many loved ones, but we were able to create a beautiful celebration and memories to last a lifetime.
