I know winter has technically only just begun, and it’s not even seasonably chilly in most parts of the country, but I’m more than ready for a tropical getaway. Day and night I’m dreaming about a second honeymoon filled with sand, scenery and secluded beaches. And my loves, I’ve found the most incredible locale that I simply can’t wait to share with all of you! The Cook Islands. This unbeliveable gem of a destination is nestled between Fiji and Tahiti at the heart of the Polynesian Circle and it’s crystal clear waters + sandy beaches are almost too beautiful to be true. Even more off-the-beaten path than Fiji or Tahiti, the country is made up of 15 small islands including Rarotonga and Aitutaki, two of the most popular destinations. And for such a hidden treasure, getting there is much easier that you’d imagine-it’s only a 9½ hour non-stop flight from Los Angeles (there are also direct flights from Australia + New Zealand)!

A Cook Islands vacation means slowing down to “Island Time” and stopping to smell the roses. Whether relaxing for you entails beach bumming on the sandy white beaches or partaking in the endless activities the islands have to offer, you’re pretty much set for a dream honeymoon. The islands have a number of accommodation options from family-freindly resorts to luxurious private villas! Once you’re settled on where you’ll stay, you’ll need to think about what to pack (an ever important detail!) As many of the island’s activities revolve around the water (think paddle-boarding, diving + snorkling to name a few) you’ll need a stash of swimsuits! And with the year-round warm temperatures, long dresses are perfect for day to night transitions. As with any beach vacation, sunglasses and hats, as well as plenty of sunscreen is a must!  It couldn’t hurt to throw in a pair of sneakers and some shorts for a game of tennis or an Island Safari Tour.

And since no vacation would be complete without picking up a couple of souvenirs, be sure to leave some room in your suitcase for a local goody or two! Famous for Pareau, or sarongs, you can pick up a few to wear on the beach + as gifts for your bridal party! The Cook Islands are also known for black pearls-so no worries if you forget to pack your jewelry-you can pick up a few beauties on the island! So dears, have you booked your flights yet?!  Happy Honeymooning! xo
