It never ceases to amaze me all of the pure talent and creativity we see coming from you crafty bride and grooms out there in SMP-land. Yep, whether it’s designing your own gown or hand tying your bouquets, you fab ladies and gents have some serious skills. And today’s gorgeous Lindsay bride? Well, she’s definitely gunning for DIYer of the year. From those gorgeous invitations to the jewelry she’s rockin’, the entire affair was a labor of love – and all with the help of her dashing groom, family and friends. Kimberly Walker Photography snapped up all of the lovely and you can see so much more of the day right here.
From the Bride… As a graphic designer and illustrator, I made everything I possibly could for this wedding, and I was lucky enough to get help from friends and family when time was running short. It was the largest DIY project I have ever done — a perfect way to execute our wedding with our tight budget. From the invitations to the preserves and the jewellery we wore, I tried to be as creative as I could using all my resources. I made the boutonnières, the ring pillow and flower ball, as well as the many little touches you will see on the tables and around the reception. Over the summer, I spent many weekends hitting the garage sales to collect vintage bottles and jars for the centrepieces. The flowers were provided by a wonderful shop in Lindsay, and we spent the morning of the wedding arranging all the flowers into the jars and containers. We completed the centrepieces by placing the jars on slabs of wood we had cut, adding candle holders we had made out of pieces of birch. Our guest book was made up of library cards and a vintage, wood recipe card holder, and we made sure there was plenty of lemonade and candy for our guests! An amazing BBQ with hotdogs, hamburgers, sausage and all the fixings was one of the highlights of the evening — it was SO good! It was lots of work, but it was amazing and beautiful!
