This stunning Toronto affair had me at hello. Well, actually, it had me at rustic meets whimsical yellow-infused goodness, but you get the point… I am seriously smitten with this glorious soiree. From the sweet outdoor setting to the burlap-lined tables to the ceremony under that awesomely grand 180-year-old oak tree, it’s perfectly perfect in every which way. Thank goodness Mimmo Galati of MIMMO & CO was on hand to capture all of the lovely, because this is one gallery that will fill your entire day HAPPY. See it all here.
From the Bride… We met on Victoria Day Weekend in 2003 at a chalet party in Collingwood, Ontario through a mutual friend. I ended up running into the same friend weeks later at the building I worked at (turned out he was working there too for the summer) and he invited me to come and hang out at his house, he lived with Ryan. After a few weeks of Ryan asked me on an official date and we went to see a movie at the Carlton on route to which I decided to take a short-cut hopped a fence and ripped the a hole in the bum of my jeans. He walked behind me the rest of way so no one would see, I knew he was a keeper.
We didn’t have a formal engagement, after being together for 8 years we just decided that the time was now and it would be great to bring together all of our family and friends for a night of good food, good wine, and good dancing. We had always thought Mansfield would be the perfect venue for a wedding weekend so we called in the January to see what dates they still had available for that summer, August 6th was left so we booked it and sent out the Save the Date which is how most people found out we were engaged.
Not sure the best way to describe our wedding theme, but we were thinking of a perfect summer day in the country with a 50’s feel. We really loved the whole experience but the ceremony, and the lead up to the ceremony, was one of the big moments. As we were getting ready, my dad gave me a necklace that was a combination of his wedding ring and my mother’s engagement ring to wear with my dress, my brother put his extra bowtie on my sister’s pug and it was decided that he would be in the wedding as well, and we all walked across the field to the great 180-year-old oak tree that the ceremony was held under. I had been adamant that I didn’t want to wear wedges and so my heels were digging in and aerating the grass the whole walk across. I was so nervous by the time I got to the end of the aisle I couldn’t help but squeeze Ryan’s hand through the whole ceremony. Being surrounded by our family friends on a perfect day under an amazingly impressive tree was peaceful and dreamy, it was a beautiful moment that felt meant to be.
The second best moment would have to have been seeing my brother running around with his laptop watching the weather radar and trying to nail down the exact time when the rain might come. The chairs and tables went outside then inside then outside again, we were very fortunate that it rained all around us but it didn’t rain on us!
We really loved all of it, from the bulb lights to the mason jars, the outdoor dance floor, to the late-night campfires. It was really special seeing our families and friends come together and pitch in and help make the day and weekend what is was.
